GOTY 2013: Game of the Year Award Before we announce the winner of our Game of the Year award, we wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year!. What a great year 2013 was for gaming - here's hoping 2014 is even more special.

If you missed out on the nominations beforehand, you can find our Game of the Year candidates below. It's a pretty impressive field, with a ton of different platforms featured as part of the awards.

    - Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
    - BioShock Infinite
    - Fire Emblem: Awakening
    - Grand Theft Auto V
    - Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
    - Pokemon X/Y
    - Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm
    - Super Mario 3D World
    - The Last of Us
    - Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist

And the winner of Game of the Year in 2013 is..... The Last of Us!

Having already taken a few other awards, including Best PS3 Game and Best New IP, The Last of Us was quite clearly voted as Game of the Year by the staff here at Gaming Union.

Appearing after The Last of Us, was Fire Emblem: Awakening and Grand Theft auto V, just highlighting how much quality there was in 2013's gaming release line-up.

Congratulations to Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment for creating such a magical experience with The Last of Us, and also big congrats to all of the other games, developers and publishers featured throughout the awards.
