We're here again with another "Ultimate 'Video Game Movie' Cast", a feature where we determine which actor we would choose to fit our favorite video game characters. Last time we had Final Fantasy VII, but this time we decided to kick it up a notch and go with another classic, "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City".
Tommy Vercetti - Karl Urban
If Ray Liota was just 10 years younger, he'd be perfect to play the live action version of Tommy Vercetti, but alas, aging happens and so we've chosen Karl Urban to take his place. Most of you may know him as Bones from the newest 'Star Trek' film and some of you may even remember him from his early days in 'The Lord of the Rings'. He not only has the scruffy good looks needed to be Tommy Vercetti, he's also got a ton of talent as well as a knack for speaking with an American accent. Vercetti should prove no problem for Urban.
Sonny Forelli - Javier Bardem
Widely praised for his portrayal of Anton in 'No Country for Old Men', Oscar Winner, Javier Bardem would make a very convincing Sonny. Bardem has the power behind his voice in order to stand as one of Tommy's prime antagonists. Nominated nearly over a hundred times for various awards, three of which were Academy Awards, Bardem clearly has the chops to pull off this role. His rugged Spanish good looks are merely bonuses.
Ken Rosenberg - Stanley Tucci
In order to be Ken, an actor really needs to have a lot of energy and be on the edge of a nervous break down at all times. Stanley Tucci is a terrific actor who I felt would best fit the role of Ken especially considering his strong character acting abilities. Consider the amount of different roles he's played like in 'Devil Wears Prada', 'A Life Less Ordinary', and 'Easy A'.
Lance Vance - Marlon Wayans
This is a bit of a stretch, however, if you haven't had the pleasure of seeing Marlon Waynes in 'Requiem for a Dream', I strongly consider giving it a shot as his performance is much less camp than his usual roles. The role of Lance Vance has to be played by someone who is smooth, cool, and confident. Almost like the role of Lando in Star Wars. Sadly, Billy Dee Williams is a bit too old in order to play Lance, but I strongly believe Wayans would be just as good, if not better.
Ricardo Diaz - Luis Guzman
Not only does Luis Guzman fit the role of Diaz looks wise, but he even portrayed the character in the game. It's only fitting that he be the one to play the role in a possible movie. If you don't know a lot about his roles in the past, check out 'Arthur' or better yet, play through Vice City!
Colonel Juan GarcÃa Cortez - Jean Reno
Personally, Cortez was my absolute favorite character to work for in the game. I almost wished I could work for him the whole game since I just loved his character so much. For that, I chose one of my all time favorite actors, Jean Reno. My favorite role of his was as the assassin Leon in 'Leon: The Professional', but his acting resume is just so huge, there's bound to be one movie everyone's seen of his. Aside from his accomplishments though, Reno really has the charisma and charm in order to portray Cortez accurately.
Kent Paul - Harry Lloyd
If you don't know Harry Lloyd by name, you may know him best as Viserys Targaryen in the series 'Game of Thrones'. His acting in that series alone is extremely impressive as the vile Viserys to where, playing a smart talking English youth would be simple. Lloyd's even from London, England so he's all the more qualified.
Avery Carrington - Jack Nicholson
If there's one thing that's true in this world, it's that Jack Nicholson is badass. His characters are plenty and all of them a gem in their own way. Whether he's playing a not so mental mental patient in "˜One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', an Irish mafia leader in "˜The Departed', or a grumpy old neighbor in "˜As Good As It Gets', Jack never fails to lose his cool. Having him as a cameo in a Grand Theft Auto would be absolutely amazing especially since he's already played a character similar to Avery in the satire "˜Mars Attacks'.
Umberto Robina - Matthew Willig
Matthew Willig caught my attention when he portrayed Little Chino in the second season of "˜Dexter'. His acting is amazing and along with that, you won't find anyone who looks just as much like Umberto as Willig does.
The Love Fist missions are some of the most prominent as far as comedic relief is concerned. Their missions are among the most memorable such as the limousine mission where the entire group is in the backseat goofing off while you're in the front trying desperately to not slow down and set off a bomb. So it's only natural that comedians should take prime seats as the band members. For this fact, I've chosen Russell Brand as the lead singer Jezz, Jason Segel as Dick, Paul Rudd as Percy, and Steve Carell as Willy.
Phil Cassidy - Timothy Spall
Phil Cassidy is one of the later characters Vercetti works with and again one of the most memorable. His mission is actually the one that ends the game. After a mess up with some moonshine, he ends up blowing his own arm off and then you have to take him to the hospital while intoxicated in order to make sure he doesn't die of blood loss. Timothy Spall has recently made fame in America thanks to his role in "˜Harry Potter' as Peter Pettigrew. The acting ability is definitely there, but just as important, with a mullet, Spall would look almost exactly like Cassidy.
Mercedes Cortez - Lizzy Caplan
In order to portray Mercedes Cortez accurately, an actress needs to have a lot of confidence with just as much sex appeal. I mean, she's one of Vercetti's most important pieces of arm candy. Lizzy Caplan has just the right amount of everything to be Mercedes. Her acting resume includes "˜True Blood' , "˜Cloverfield', and "˜Mean Girls'.
