Top Ten PlayStation Vita Launch Titles
Vita 0 CommentsSony’s latest portable, the PlayStation Vita, is about to hit store shelves across North America... That is, unless you’re among the pre-order elite and already have one. Either way, there’s a lot to look forward to from Vita’s launch, not least of which is the packed lineup of titles available from day one. While initial software may not ultimately determine the handheld’s success, Vita certainly has the edge out of the gate when compared to the 3DS launch last year. That being said, we decided to compile a list of our most anticipated launch titles for the PlayStation Vita, listed in alphabetical order.
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend
With the devious, all new playable character Relius Clover, new story scenarios, new gameplay modes, and competitively balanced action, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND makes a grand return to home consoles and the PlayStation Vita. In addition to the game, EXTEND's Limited Edition bundle include a 2012 BlazBlue-themed calendar, a 40-page, full color artbook which includes the new characters and a 17-song soundtrack CD.
"Escape Plan features two hapless characters, Lil and Laarg, who have been captured and need your influence, skill and brainpower to escape from a dark labyrinth of irreverent puzzles and traps... Players can swipe, squeeze, poke and slap these guys to interact and manipulate the environment and help Lil and Laarg survive each deadly room before their captor and nemesis recycles them and turns them into his minions… or sheep."
Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
“The over-the-top golf franchise is back using a wide array of PS Vita system features including front and rear touch for shot preparation, 3G asynchronous gameplay, online tournaments, and the ability to look around the course in real time. Golf has never been so deep on a handheld system.”
“Whenever you get your hands on a new game console or electronic gadget, you want to check out all of its shiny new features. Little Deviants is just perfect for that – it uses a host of different player inputs in a collection of games that is only possible on PS Vita. It’s developed by Bigbig Studios, the creators of Pursuit Force and MotorStorm: Arctic Edge, bringing a wealth of handheld development experience to what was one of the most popular Vita titles shown at E3.”
Lumines: Electronic Symphony
“When we first began work on Lumines Electronic Symphony, we envisioned a game that would take Lumines players through a diverse but unified sampling of electronic music. This would allow us to entertain players and expose them to some amazing music. With that in mind, we gathered together a diverse array of artists who would collectively compose our “electronic symphony.””
As its title suggests, Rayman Origins will take place way back when in the Glade of Dreams. It will focus on how Rayman and his sidekick Globox become the heroes of the future titles. Havoc ensues in the Glade of Dreams, when the world's creator, Bubble Dreamer, becomes cursed by endless nightmares. By having these nightmares, Bubble Dreamer transforms the good Electoons into frightening Darktoons destroying the Glade of Dreams. It's up to Rayman and his friends to stop the nightmares and save the world.
Super Stardust Delta
“Built from the ground up for PS Vita, this PSN downloadable game brings all of the interstellar action of the original PS3 arcade shooter to the palm of your hand. In addition to the fully re-designed classic PS3 modes, we’ve included exciting new mini-games such as Crush, Disc Slide, Orbit Bomber, Rock and Roll, and Trucker. We’ve also utilized PS Vita’s front touchscreen, rear touchscreen and motion sensors to introduce all-new controls that enable you to launch missiles, create black holes, unleash crush attacks and trigger massive shockwaves.”
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Our favourite heroes from both the Marvel and Capcom universes are set to collide again in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Playing as these epic characters on the go with Vita will likely be made better thanks to the inclusion of 12 new fighters and eight stages. Keep an eye on this one, folks.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Spearheaded by Uncharted: Golden Abyss, it's really quite difficult to pass the [Vita] off as another PSP. Uncharted is a series that has grown to be associated with amazing visuals, great gameplay and, of course, a well told story. I can't say too much about that last aspect, but at the very least fans can expect Golden Abyss to be yet another great entry into the PlayStation portfolio when it leads the launch of the Vita.
WipEout 2048 is one of the launch titles set to rock the stage when the PlayStation Vita launches... It's no surprise as the WipEout franchise is pretty synonymous with PlayStation hardware launches. The boys at Liverpool Studio talk up the PSVita hardware as well as the development of WipEout 2048, which features Cross-Play, allowing players to go head-to-head whether their own PS3 or PSVita. comments powered by Disqus
