PS Vita Round-Up October Edition
Vita 0 CommentsSeptember was an exciting month for the PlayStation Vita and what better place to start than this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
At their conference prior to TGS 2013, Sony announced a new Slim PS Vita model that is thinner, lighter, and cheaper. Even with the loss of the OLED screen, first hands-on have been positive.
On top of the new Slim, Sony also announced a new TV hardware called the PS Vita TV that will essentially be a screenless PS Vita which can hook up to your television. Exciting stuff!
However that’s all in the past, and we can all eagerly await these new devices to reach the west. Until then, we have some confirmed titles that will be arriving this very month! While it’s not the biggest list, there are some gems to be had.
Put down your pitchforks Europe, it’s your turn to get your hands on Dragon’s Crown! The reviews have been excellent across the board, and for a good reason. Dragon’s Crown is an artistic styled action title that harkens back to the classic Golden Axe style gameplay.
Select from a range of classes including Fighter, Amazon, Elf, Sorceress, Wizard, and Dwarf, to venture out to slay foes and claim rewards. Each class has its own set of play style as well as an inherent difficulty. As well as each dungeon will yield its own dangers and rewards.
Dragon’s Crown releases on PS Vita (as well as PS3) on October 11th in Europe. If you’re in North America then get out from under that rock, because it’s already there!
Valhalla Knights 3
After several delays and last minute announcements, Xseed Games has finally given the launch date for their localization of Valhalla Knights 3. Expect to see this title both on shelves and on PlayStation Network for North American audiences on October 15th. Unfortunately, we have no word at this time on a European publisher.
For those that may have missed our previous featuring of this title, Valhalla Knights 3 is a team developing action RPG. You’re tasked with building a team of 7 members to go head to head with enemies and other players alike. Your team can be customized from races, gender, class, and more. Classes can range from Fighter, Mage, Prisoner, Thief, Priest, Akatoki, and Archer. On top of that, each character has customizable skills that can enhance them in combat.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
The LEGO franchise looks to spoof the wonderful world of Marvel heroes. In a widely cross platform title, players switch between more than 140 different characters from the Marvel franchise to thwart the evil plot of Dr Doom.
After Silver Surfer’s board is shattered into fragments of blocks, their power is gifted to those that collect them. The villains spring into action to claim that power for themselves. Players will travel through the city of New York to gather the fragments and stop recognizable villains like Loki and Magneto.
Expect Lego Marvel Super Heroes to hit North American shelves for the PlayStation Vita on October 22nd. Europe will see it on November 15th. It’s important to note that the PS Vita version will not be a port of the open world console version, but instead be a standalone handheld version port of the Nintendo 3DS version.
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate
Built from the ground up, Blackgate looks to recreate the feel of Batman in a 2.5D world. Each ability that Batman is known for have been changed to fit a new style of gameplay. However don’t judge this idea of a 2.5D world just yet. Staples of the series such as stealth, freeflow combat, puzzles, and gadgets is still all present here.
Taking place a few months after the events of Arkham Origins, an explosion ring out at Blackgate Prison allowing Joker and gang to take over part of the prison. In true hero fashion, Batman springs to action to uncover the truth behind the event.
The excitement ramps up as Batman: Arkham: Origins Blackgate is slated to be released world-wide for the PS Vita on October 25th.
Angry Birds Star Wars
People just can’t get enough of Angry Birds. So it’s no wonder that the major gaming consoles are seeing Angry Bird fever in the form of Star Wars. Exclusive to this new launch is 20 brand new levels as well as 25 hours of gameplay. Use the force and torpedo your targets. Angry Birds Star Wars hits PlayStation Vita on the 29th of October in North America and November 1st in Europe.
