    PS3 X360 PC 3DS 0 Comments Sep 30th, 2013, 11:41am EDT by Andrew McDanell
JRPG Gamer's Guide: October Edition Welcome back for yet another edition of Gaming Union’s monthly JRPG feature, with the JRPG Gamer’s Guide for October!

This month is shaping up to be quite a big month for JRPG fans as a couple of classics are getting some exciting new sequels, a fan favorite gets remastered, Pokemon returns in full 3D, and we even get a solid release date for Rune Factory.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into the first game on the list.

Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl
Fans of the Etrian Odyssey saga rejoice. Based off the original Etrian Odyssey for the Nintendo DS, The Millennium Girl is a remastering filled with new content, visuals, and even a new story.

Fans of the classic style of Etrian Odyssey will find the game features all the original customizable party and same classic dungeon crawling experience. That’s not all though, as a new story mode will offer a new take on the adventure. Featuring pre-designed characters and classes, the story mode will feature a fully built storyline and even cutscenes to tell an interesting new story in the world.

Etrian Odyssey Untold will be available only on the Nintendo 3DS in North America on October 1st. European release has yet to be confirmed. For more information, check out our recent review

    Rune Factory 4
After several delays and countless apologies, XSEED Games has finally locked down a release date for Rune Factory 4. Exclusively available for the Nintendo 3DS platform, it’s slated for an October 1st release date in North America. Hopefully it will be true this time. While Europe does have a publisher, no date has been given. If you missed our previous featuring of Rune Factory 4, here is the scoop.

The protagonist in Rune Factory 4 has a serious case of amnesia. After stumbling upon a village, he’s mistaken to be a neighboring prince that was due to take over the village. What makes it worst is that the real prince doesn’t seem too bothered by that. Taking the lumps and moving on, the task at hand is to help the citizens of the town, create livestock, build relationships, and even explore dungeons. All the while reclaiming lost memories.

    Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness
NIS is at it again! Back with their whacky Disgaea series in a whole new game featuring the characters from the original PlayStation 2 Disgaea game. The core of the game itself remains true to the Disgaea formula, however expect new features such as Mounting replacing Magichange and Relationship building to boost stats.

The story itself follows Laharl after being crowned Overlord of his Netherworld. Even with his new status, demons of his Netherworld don’t see him as a figure to be respected. A group of demons called the Krichevskoy Faction seeks to usurp his rule and put someone else in his place. After a battle with the faction over the sudden appearance of celestial flowers, Laharl wakes to find himself inside a woman’s body. However, fret not. As with all Disgaea titles, it will get crazy.

Expect Disgaea D2 to hit North American store shelves on October 8th for the PlayStation 3 console. For those that missed it, Europe seen a release on September 27th.

    Pokemon X and Pokemon Y
There’s no doubt that Pokemon has an insane following. One that has people seeking out the latest iteration every time it comes around. Well get ready, because the series is now reaching new heights with a new 3D rendered world.

New to the series is a fully polygonal 3D rendered world as well as a fully customizable main protagonist. You can choose the gender, skin tone, and more of your protagonist as well as customize clothing later on. A new addition to the Pokemon themselves is a new Fairy Type Pokemon. Then there’s flying battles, Pokemon interactions, Mega-Evolutions, Super Training, mini-games and so much more!

Get ready to capture Pokemon, train them, and become the best! Expect the two iterations of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y to hit the Nintendo 3DS Worldwide on October 12th.

    The Guided Fate Paradox (25EU)
Disgaea D2 isn’t the only love being sent by NIS, enter a whole new IP called The Guided Fate Paradox. This new title is a rogue-like dungeon crawler that features randomly generated worlds and complex strategy. Movement in each world is a step by step turn system that is similar to games like Izuna. However given the NIS stamp, combat is in no way that simple. Defying gravity, logic, and all sanity.

The story follows Renya, a young man who gains divine powers after winning a raffling. Now with angel in tow, he is tasked to grant the prayers of those who pray to him. To do this, he has to utilize a device called a “Fate Revolution Circuit Machine” and guide fates to revolutions. Sounds like another day in the office for NIS!

The Guided Fate Paradox is slated to release exclusively to the PS3 in Europe on the 25th. North America will have to wait until November 5th to join in on the action.

That wraps it up for this edition of JRPG Gamer’s Guide! If your mouth isn’t watering over this list, then something is wrong with you! However if it isn’t enough, check back here next month as we release our next edition of the JRPG Gamer’s Guide here on Gaming Union.
