The fear is the DukeNukem factor (think I quoted a new term). Where a juicy bone is thrown out (trailer/footage), pulled back, the entire package is hinted at, people want it bad, then it's dangled way above head for so long.

People stress over it, ponder how it tastes, smell for a scent, then finally when they release the bone, it tastes nothing like what they have calculated it tasting like.

Of course, the real reason in my mind for the release delay, is cannibal prevention. They got their eye set on releasing not just 1, but 2 FF13s. So releasing FFV13 anywhere in that time frame would eat at their sales for those 2 titles.

To be honest I still have hope, because EVEN Duke Nukem Forever came out, and this will too. But I do believe we will not see it release until September 2012 (For Japan).

i'm more interested nowadays on the epic that is FF type-0 than versus xiii. When i saw the gameplay for it, i wasn't than amused, as it still felt too stiff and not as cinematic as an action RPG should. But this is early critique of yet to be finished, god knows when, title.

I think I understand why XIII-2 is releasing so early now. So that they can release more information and release dates for this game at the SE official conference thingy without hindering XIII-2's sales, because it would have released a month earlier...

I actually think this game may be closer to completion than we may be led to believe.

I really hope you are right, because as it stands this game is the one game that everyone is looking forward to, and if looks like the game is still off by two years of work, one can only wonder what Square is thinking.

I am still calling a September 2012 Japan Release for this game.

But I definitely agree that getting FFXIII-2 out of the way would nicely clear the path for Versus.
