XD Took the words right out of my mouth Colin!! XD Yes, once I start something, I have to know how it finishes, no matter how bad a story is...Which is why I would opt more for MW than BF...

On the topic of the single player. The problem with that is that if I buy a game, I want to have a high replay value and MW just isn't doing it for me (and single player stories from MW take me around 5 hours and the price just doesn't justify a 5 hour game). With BF, the game is dedicated to the multiplayer (oh heck, a single player mode wasn't put into until Bad Company 2) and is where BF games really shine.

I think you and Kid are part of a minority though, as most people buy the game for the online experience. I dislike CoD online particularly, but it is ridiculously popular... Undecided

I find that most FPS are specificaly designed for playing online. There is a Single Player aspect simply because it started out as a single player though I may be wrong. In the last twelve months I got into FPS and previously had said I'd never play one.

if it wasnt for a free trial on XBL I wouldnt have played MW2 and if I hadnt been dissatisfied with FFXIII I'd have not gone and traded it in for BC2.

Whilst FPS arent all I play and I will always play a variety. I think that though the SP is poor and short lived and the story is never all that epic. We as gamers expect more now than ever before.

Look at the first Crash Bandicoot game, it's never ending levels and bosses was great for the type of game that it was but does anyone even remember what the plot was about?

mario was always about saving the Princess but there weasnt much else to the plot other than that.

People now a days want so much more from games. I find Drving games tedious, but enjoy them when I need a break from FF or other long ass games.

The price tag is enough to put people off when they expect to be able to rack up 100's of hours of gameplay. But what you have top realise is these games arent FFVII etc.

They are first person shooters with a limited plot. Metal Gear Solid did something special. it was a shooter in parts but stealth and planning to a degree was needed. Though in the later games people ignore the stealth aspect and run and gun when possible.

I enjoyed bC and BC2. I found it funny at times and fun to play.

The character you play in the single player says in the first game. "if only I landed that helicoptor a few feet to the left" which I found really funny when you think about it.

If you choose a game on mechanics alone. Bad Company 2 did a lot of FPS. You did spray and pray online. And the landscapes and map size where so much more than MW2 ever had.

I look forward to Battlefield 3. I have it installed right now and await it's launch. Hell I spent £1,277 on this computer simply because I wanted to experience the game for free and not pay for a subscription on XBL which would just go to waste.

Also not forgeting so many other great games that are coming. If I feel I want to in the future I will buy MW3 just because I can and might need a change.

I would buy BF3.

I like DICE a lot, and I prefer their online to COD's online. However I don't play online that much so I will not be buying BF3 at launch, because I really only care about the single player. And because of that I may just borrow it or rent it instead.

Ultimately that's your choice, the single player isn't easy or it might be that the PC version is tougher very little aim assist using keyboard and mouse!

I dunno, I'm finding the story for BF3 a little bit boring. It's not as gripping as I'd hoped it would be especially after DICE compared it to shows like The Hurt Locker and 24.

The multiplayer on the other hand is an entirely different story, my mind is just blown by the scale of it. So as far as story goes, I'm disappointed, but for multiplayer, it's a blast and I'm definitely happy with the purchase.

I kinda agree, I hate this changing from one character to another. I understand that it makes for gripping gamelplay at times. But I like just playing as one character when the story is so linear.

I understand what they are doing. The jet bit was simply to show look what you can do when you play MP.

I am so far enjoying it though, general gameplay on the SP and all.

The MP on the other hand is great, though I do hate the fact that there are vehicles on such small maps at times. I was playing Rush just and the enemy team used the LAV to great effect killing everything in it's path. I guess it helped that there where three engineers in the vehicle too.

But oh well.

FUN! FUN! FUN!

Both. My dad bought Battlefield 3 yesterday and it is awesome. It was awesome from the beta.

For me, MW3 will give me a full package: great single-player, great co-op, outstanding multi-player. Battlefield 3 will give me an even better multi-player but so much the full package.

The choice of multi-player will on my mood. If I want to be slightly more strategic then I will play Battlefield 3. As I found I enjoyed the objective-based gameplay of the beta and found myself adapting to situations through changing classes and weapons due to change of environments and my success in a match. If wasn't killing with that weapon type, change tactics and weapon. Something I don't do with COD. Battlefield makes me experiment with different classes of weaponry where with COD I will stick to anything that isn't a Sniper Rifle as the maps are too small.

I will play MW3 when I want something more fast-paced. I like the new stuff Infinity Ward have added and can't wait to get playing. The maps seem to be diverse and interesting. The weapons don't look too bad as with Black Ops I got bored of them too quickly. I also like the return of Spec-Ops and I like the new survival mode.

Can't wait to play them both but they will have to wait as I am saving up for a trip to a University Open Day and the train ticket costs around £50. Will buy MW3 first though as I have played the Battlefield Beta to death when it was up.
