Final Fantasy is jam packed with different characters, all having their own unique fighting styles. In some titles such as Tactics and FFV, Squaresoft featured the ability to even assign your character a job class. Each unique and fun. So whether it's Sabin's Blitz, Tactic's Calculator, 1's Black Mage, 13's Commando, or what seems like hundreds of others; the question remains. What is your top 5 favorite Job Classes of Final Fantasy?

Here's my list:
1.Dragoon (IV/Tactics/IX): I remember the first time I seen a dragoon in Final Fantasy. Kaine. He was awesome because while in air, he wasn't touched, then he'd rain down pain upon the enemy. Tactics had them as well which was awesome. Usually yielding a deadly spear and the ability to rain down pain, Dragoons remained to be one of my favorite unique classes of all time.
2.Summoner (All): Who doesn't like summoning some amazing beast to destroy everything in site. Final Fantasy has always kept to these iconic beasts and the character that wielded them has always changed. From Rydia, to Dagger, to Yuna, to just about everyone in 13. You just can't beat them.
3.White Mage (All): How would we get through some of those painful bosses without a little tender love and care. White mages have been saving our butts since the very first Final Fantasy. While some fight to play without them, others embrace these gentle beings with open arms. Here's to the healer!
4.Blitz (VI): There's just something about good ol Sabin that rings with me. Since the moment he jumps on the scene to thrash his rival, Sabin has kicked royal butt with his abilities known as Blitz. They arn't the simplest of things to pull off, generally a slip of the finger means a wasted turn. But to those wanting the game to be something besides mashing X, Sabin to the rescue. It's all for benefit as well, since mastering these combinations of buttons can often mean massive damage every turn from this well trained martial artist.
5.Geomancer (VI/Tactics): Taking tree hugging to an ultimate, geomancers have an amazing ability to use the nature of their target's location against them. Bringing forth Lava, Roots, Rocks, and more to destroy their enemy. While I thought I originally met the geomancer in Tactics, I recently realized that I met it first with Mog, the cute little moogle of VI. So here's to our nature's wrath, the Geomancer!

These are mostly based on Tactics' classes, considering I haven't played too many Final Fantasy titles before VII. But ah well...

Warrior or Knight
It's a pretty standard DPS class, but important none the less. And it's pretty much the default class I play in role-playing games outside of Final Fantasy, allowing myself to either soak up damage and deal some of my own.

Dragoon
I have to admit Dragoon, more so than any other class, was my all-time favorite class in Final Fantasy Tactics, not only for the Jump command (which was pretty awesome) but that it was a melee physical class that allowed greater range than the standard melee weapon types.

Ninja
Again, mostly referencing my experience with Tactics here, I did love how the ninja class allowed character the ability to dual-wield and throw weapons, making them kick-ass blitz assault units.

Mine would have to be...

1)Red Mage: because they can use both White and Black Magic (to a certain level) and also use swords and other useful melee weapons

2)Dragoon: Mainly because there's something about using a spear/pole/pike/javelin that just makes me wanna wack something Tongue

3)Paladin: This job usually makes for a very effective 'Tank' character with high Defense and HP

And that's all I can think about for now... Big Grin

I take it, Zeruel, that you either didn't play 3 or 5, or that you didn't care for their variations of Lancer/dragoon and Geomancer (geomacer of course only being in 5, not 3)

I generally like warrior types, such as warriors, knights, red mages, and paladins
Another type I tend to like to have is healers, like White Mages/Wizards, Paladins, Devout, and Sage
I think I should also note that when playing Crystal Chronicles, I tend to act something of a healer

Yeah, missed both those ones. I was just focusing on certain titles because technically those jobs are in other titles as well. Like Aerith in FF7 is considered a Geomancer. Also, Cid is a dragoon in FF7. Can't cover them all. The ones I coined were just for reference. That's why I ended up just generalizing on WhiteMage and Summoner... listing all of them would have been time consuming. >_<

Great choices guys. I also have a thing for paladins. Smile

Really? I always treated her as a White Mage. She's simply the best healer of the game. I do agree Cid definitely could take on the Dragoon role, although I more or less run him as my Red Mage.

Ooops, nah I read something elsewhere that she was TO BE a geomancer but they changed it before release..

It's what I get for posting when half asleep. I knew all she did was healing. Haha sorry.

My love for the Dragoon class started with Cid Highwind. Since then I've always been a spear/polearm man, as well as big fan of Defense in general, which Dragoons excel at, especially in games like Tactics.

Not enough games have proper spear users. There's Kain, Cid, and Freya. But Khimari was crap and his ultimate weapon was impossible to get. Spears were sort of "blah" in XII. Fang's weapon wasn't really a spear, more of a bladed staff/polearm kind of thing, which was still cool, just... not a spear.

my top 5:
1. Warrior, my favorite because its super strong, high strengh and defense, specially in FF I.
2. Summoners, was a really easy way to deal massive damage on all enemies.
3. Dragoon, like others said, the jump ability allows to dodge any enemy attack and at same time deals great damage to the enemy, and in Tactics you could hit an enemy 2 "blocks" away.
4. Samurai, mainly because they look cool, and they have lots of powerfull abilities, like instant kill and gill toss.
5. Red Mage, they could use black magic, white magic and wield swords.

Samurai ALMOST made it in my list, but got bumped for other great jobs. I loved them in FFTactics.

Truth! (though I'm not too familiar with Khimari) It's not as if it will get overplayed, because there are far more overplayed classes than a good ol' dragoon.
