It's a sad fact. Microsoft's systems just aren't popular in japan, just as the Wii and Gamecube weren't really popular in the western world. I would think that it's more or less a difference of opinions in the cultures.

but its true the Xbox never was much popular in Japan it was kind of predictable, i think the Xbox isnt quite popular here in Europe either, at least here in Portugal, most stores have large sections of Ps3 games, while the Xbox has really small sections

That's not the same here in the UK, I would say the PS3 has just about caught up to the 360 only within the last year or so. In terms of popularity, that is.

pretty much. I mean, how often do you hear people speak of the Wii as a good system? Most of the time, you hear "the Wii is just a crap system with last-gen graphics and a ton of shovelware" or something to that extent. Am I wrong? Yes, the Wii had great sales figures over the PS3, but consider the fact that a lot of those sales were from casual and non-gamers.

Xbox was always against it in Japan. It is a buy local country and gaming is generally a social aspect anyway (arcade style) so you can see why the Nintendo is a massive market in Japan. This could turn into a console debate but really people, Xbox fails in Japan. As long as Japanese games keep coming out on the playstation it is always going to be that way..

R3DM4N has it right, it never really had a shot in the first place. Not really about if the console was good or bad, the Japanese are just faithful to their own products regardless of the reason. It's not like we should be crying our eyes out for Microsoft anyway, they've done well enough for themselves with the Xbox/Kinect just about everywhere else in the world.
