Default When did you jump on the Final Fantasy XIII hype train?

With only a month to go till it's western release I thought it would be cool to contemplate a much simpler time when we didn't know about Final Fantasy XIII or it hadn't been announced yet and wasn't part of our lives.

Personally, I discovered XIII and FXN in December 2008 when a friend mentioned something about the game in passing after I had gotten into Final Fantasy X and wasn't really all that into XII. That day I google searched Final Fantasy XIII, scrolled around a bit and found FXN. I then found the Podcast and listened to it for the rest of the day (it was up to Episode 12 then) even skipping my cricket match (which was washed out anyway) because I liked it so much. Thus I got into gaming and a year and a bit I find myself here.

So in other terms how long have you been waiting for Final Fantasy XIII?

Well, i joined here 2 1/2 months ago because of my obsession with kingdom hearts, and obviously heard a lot about ff xiii here. i haven't really looked into ffxiii cause i know i'll get really hyped up for it, and since I'm not going to be able to play it until gone April, I thought it best not to get hyped up xD

If that makes no sense, forgive me, i've just finished a night shift :/

I have known about FF XIII since the very first images of Lightning were released waaay back in 2006? (maybe even 05).
Final Fantasy XII wasn't even released in the UK and I was already hyped for FF XIII.
I then followed the game like I have done with all FF titles on a few websites, but noticed that FXN had a really mature community compared to others, so I joined that 2 years ago.
I've basically been on the train since day 1 of this 5 year hype fest and it's what has lead me to become a member of GU and subsequently a member of staff on FFU.

It may have been a painful ride of going weeks and even months without any information to latch onto but it has been a great experience which won't stop when XIII is released. There's versus & Agito to look forward too =]

Pretty much the same with Omen. I've been following FFXIII ever since the first images came out. I also tried my best not to get too hyped up though. I think I'm doing what I did with XII before it came out. I didn't look much into its gameplay mechanics and story other than the few screenshots and information that were provided. I didn't read any of those extended interviews with the developers about the game too, only little excerpts

I was formally on FXN as well, I think either 2005 or 2006. I then moved on to GU when it was first established (although I wasn't too active then xD).

Since 2006 too.
XII came out, and i played it maybe a month. I was so dissapointed about that game, that i wanted to play the next FF right behind that. But i didnt thought it would take that long.
But the release is next month, so im looking forward to it. XIII finally ^_^

Personally I've jumped on and off the FFXIII hype train many times, dunno how I keep catching up to it though XD

I wasn't really hyped for it until I joined FXN though, saw the one and only available trailer for it and found the PS3 theme, back in late...2007 or 2008 I think. Oddly enough I've completely lost all my hype since it was released in Japan, now it's real and I know I'll have it soon I'm completely fine with waiting because I know it won't be too long before I have the entire game, whereas before I was desperate for any scrap of information I could get on it.

Like Anthony I faded in an out.

Saw the 2006 debute and then zoned out to play WoW.

End of WoW career I had gotten back into Final Fantasy and checked out XIII through Kotaku and FXN. Learned some Japanese and stayed on the hype train till the day I recieved it. The next morning (arriving back from the Bahamas at 2 am) I played for 8 straight hours of XIII. Dear god that was an awesome day.

tbh I am still on the hype train, because there definetly was a loss during the translation in feelings even with the great facial expressions. The english version will really be a version that I can connect to even closer, I teared up in the JP version at times, but the native translation will be THAT much better.

Back when it was first announced, before the launch of XII I believe. But my hype has drastically dropped over the past 3 months for the game.
