The funny thing is: This does nothing more for me then confirm what I've known for years. I have been playing violent video games since I was a child. the most notable being Doom at age 7. That being said, I abhor violence!
I've always theorized that those that act on what they see in these games do so not because of the games, but because of the tendencies of which already exist in the first place.

I have been saying this forever. There was actually a acase in the high school I used to go to where a few kids went up to an old man, beat his teeth out and robbed a woman's car. After that, everyone called it the "Grand Theft Auto 4" case. Although, it may have been similar, I believe there was no connection. Ever since then, the media and the neighborhood hated that game and any violent video game with it. I know its probably been happening way before that, but it didn't start in my neighborhood till then.

In conclusion, It is like saying violent action movies create violent people (which they also don't) but you don't see many people bashing them. They get praised in the news media too. But I digress.

Btw sorry for the double post but I'm new here so Hi All XD

I think we've all known for a long time that violent games are not the root cause of violent behavior.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go play GTA, get really angry because I keep getting shot by drug dealers and thugs, then head outside to beat up the first person I see. XD

Hi final513, welcome to Gaming Union. Smile You can edit posts instead of double posting, and to do this you need to go to the forums, find the "Article/News/Review Comments" forum, find the thread of the story that you commented on and find your post in that thread. You can then click the "Edit" button in the bottom-right of your post.
I realise this is a bit of a laborious task, so for now I have just merged your posts for you. Wink

If you'd like to introduce yourself, you can make a thread here: http://www.gamingunion.net/forums/forum-75.html

I quoted that because video games don't create violence. Its the person behind the controller that causes the violence. If a violent person plays video games and after playing a game causes havoc in the real world; the person is to blame and not the games itself.

I agree. People get so caught up in blaming something else, other than the person actually responsible. A similar thing often happens with regards to child abuse, just to run a parallel. The media always (at least in the UK) seem to focus on why the child was not flagged up as "at risk" and removed from their parents. People lose jobs when social services miss something. But everyone seems to forget that the parents are the ones who are abusing the child in the first place.
