Hopefully if they do make an announcement this doesn't mean we'll see some rushed releases. Or even worse Microsoft and Sony start being square.

Totally agree with you, its too soon to release new consoles, both Xbox360 and Ps3 still have a lot to show us.

They do, but there's a risk things will become far too stagnant. Publishers use new console generations to push new brands and ideas.

I have to sort of disagree that Xbox and PS3 have more to show us. They've already been pretty much maxed. That's why Xbox has texture disks and PCs are so far ahead in capabilities for their games. Then you have PS3 still lacking essential components like extra ram for cross voice chat which is becoming essential for social gaming anymore. The list goes on.

That said, I'm not looking forward to a new console, just because everytime a new console hits, crappy games start flooding to prove who can look prettier. It's only after the companies push graphics that we finally get games with content and new ideas implemented.

Either way, even if PS4 and Xbox720 was at this E3, it will only be a tech demo similar to WiiU at 2011E3. I'd say tech demo at 2012E3, Release in early 2014.

WiiU probably isn't until next year anyhow. Especially if they are still close-door showing it.

Early 2014 sounds like a great time for a new console to be released. However, the PS3 was shown at E3 in 2005, then released in 2006 with plenty of bugs. Let's hope that Sony has learned there lesson there...

And let's hope that Microsoft has finally learned their lesson from the Age of the Red Ring... XP

While this generation can still bring us many a great game that keep people plenty happy. I agree the next generation is very important to stop stagnation. PC gamer have been complaining for some time about crappy console ports holding advancement back and that's true. We need the next generation to push innovation and remove the shackles holding developers back.

Yeah, PS3 was pushed pretty quick after it's reveal. The only reason I put extra time on it is that Sony and MS have already expressed that they weren't in a hurry to go with their next console. I doubt WiiU will push them, it's more what eachother will do. MS is waiting on Sony, and Sony is waiting on MS.

I'm just glad I'm a late adopter, I never had to deal with RedRingOfDeath and YellowLightOfDeath.
