Not surprised at this. Minecraft has shot off much like Angry Birds did. Plus, ever since Cataclysm came out, WoW has been consistently losing subscribers every month. Last I heard, WoW was down to 10.3 million subscribers, and I'm sure that they will lose even more when Mists of Pandaria (aka Kung Fu Panda) is released later this year.

As much as I hate to say it, I believe Minecraft is a fad. It is merely the 'latest' thing since it has officially released and the userbase will decline back into their yearly CoD and BF grind soon enough.

@Eskimo Keith, Beyhan - Isn't that the case with all indie games though really? It still doesn't take away from the success of the game, and Mojang are set for life.

I'm still playing and loving Minecraft. I think that although the usergroup will shrink, there will continue to be a fair sized niche of people working on things together and creating mods for it.

Take a look at all the Half Life mods that are still being made!
