Quote:Final Fantasy XIII-2 can hardly be described as long-awaited, in fact it's only been two years since its predecessor made its way to Western shores. A bit of an apology to its veteran fanbase, Square Enix have made it a point to address many of the issues found in the first game, and to a certain degree of success.

I agree with many of your thoughts about the protagonists. Even though I am only 3 hours into the game, I already feel that Serah's character isn't nearly endearing enough to play a leading role in the story. On the other hand, I find myself liking Noel more and more the farther along I go.

And the battles are great, just like before.

This makes me tempted to pick it up after a while.

From just playing today (around 5+ hours), the game feels just like XIII except there's free roaming, live triggers, you can change the party leader and having a monster fight with you in battles. Other than that feels like I'm playing the same game. I just hope it won't fail horribly like X-2 did.

As we all know, the soundtrack is one of the defining features of the Final Fantasy series. Unfortunately, I haven't liked any of the FF soundtracks since FFX. So XIII-2's music will have to be a pass after being very disappointed by the musical underpinnings of FFX-2, XII and XIII.

I'm really liking the game what I've played of it so far (I think about six or seven hours), the whole explanation of the random battles was a nice touch I thought ( I missed them). XIII-2's music does seem more memorable than some of the tracks in XIII but I'm not rushing out to buy the soundtrack.

There is one thing that keeps coming to mind though, whenever you are travelling through the Historia Crux load screen, I keep thinking of the intro to "Doctor Who", I actually tried playing the theme to Doctor Who while it was loading and it fit strangely well, definitely a funny little coincidence. Smile

I don't understand, changing to the future to change the past makes perfect sense.

For example, you're making a salad. You travel through the historia crux to the future and find out a time paradox has occurred and you end up with a burger. This means the sequence of events has shifted to accommodate the burger rather than the now absent salad. Destroying the paradox will correct the timeline and thus you will end up with a salad in the end.

Well, kind of makes perfect sense anyway. Theoretically a paradox is a contradiction in a certain timeline (I mean, literally. Not something just in FFXIII-2). And isn't that basically with this game is about? Fixing certain contradictions in order to create a sequence of events that leads to Lightning?

And you gave this a lower score than XIII, despite saying that it's better -.-.

Actually, I reviewed Final Fantasy XIII. This review was done by Colin. We don't have the same mind. Tongue

Thank your Square Enix for making a better game. Now release VS13 and KH3.

What? You're still making a salad in both versions of the past in that example.

How did X-2 fail horribly? Sad
