I think the price is another deciding factor, but then again the West is full of people queuing up for the latest iPhone. People just love to buy expensive stuff.

I still think the price is very reasonable for a launch though, personally. I mean, I always wait at least one price drop (maybe even until the 'slim', depending how long that will be), but I can see why people would buy it at the price it is now. I think the preorder bonuses will have helped too.

Sounds great! Can't wait to hear on US's status.

As for reason for JP failure. Western designed product and launch titles, coupled with a recession, coupled with a natural disaster, along with Vita's price tag. It's not a big surprise. 3DS was doing terrible just the same, it wasn't until it's price drop that it took off. Sony isn't cutting it's price anytime soon.
