I'm not sure if anyone else came across this article on IGN. It's an opinion piece, and quite a hot topic at that (indicated in the article's comments). I didn't want to get involved there, but here we have quite a healthy group of Kingdom Hearts fans, (friendly ones too ) that also have varied opinions. I'm curious as to what your opinions are on the article, but also what it questions in the series. Has Kingdom Hearts become too ridiculous? And if so, can it be fixed?

Most have probably figured out by now that I'm a big defender of Square Enix, at least where Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy is concerned. And while (in my opinion) the Article brought out good points, the Disney element, multi-consoles, the many faces of Sora, I felt it was rather brutal. And it didn't even seem to be written by someone who is a fan or enjoys the game.

What are your thoughts?

I've seen this article yesterday and my thoughts?
1) This author of the article is aged 20+ and thinks that Skyrim is the coolest thing to exist since 6th Generation.
2) His points are only valid if the reader is either: 1. Poor 2. Dependent 3. easily believes BS and 4. Believes that any game below the Mature rating is a waste of money.
3) He compared this series to Twilight...He lost the meaning of the cliche ages ago
4) He's born in the western world...need I say more?

9) He wants everything in there when he doesn't realize that it would eliminate the purpose of purchasing any Disney film or Square Enix game that is featured in the game...they are merely cameos and nothing more...get over it and pick up a fresh copy of Lion King 3D Blu-Ray, you'll thank me later.
10) He's another firm believer of the 'Loyalty fan base' where If you've purchased a company's product for 6 Years+ that you are obligated to buy the oncoming products without question and be forced to enjoy it...If you don't like the new stuff...buy the next Call Of Duty game set to be released next...That'll be his game-of-the-year for sure.
11) He's clearly writing this article just so that I'll respond to it...jack***.
12) Lastly (hopefully) He should go to a games convention dressed up as a movie character, because that fits his article description.

I see where this guy is coming from, like the worlds he wants and how muddled the story is if you’re not paying attention. But I do disagree. The story is "muddled" so it sets a an awesome universe to play around with. Also he basically says the story sucks. I quiet like the story because it is continuous, something that is rare in video games. Also having “multiple Soras” is great because it keeps the fanbase theorising about what could be in the next game or potential they could do with that. I could argue nearly every point he made, like I’m sure most of you can, but that would take up too much time.

Yeah I know the guy who wrote this article, Jack can criticise the things he writes if it's an opinion piece like this article for example. Let me just say that it is his opinion on the series itself, he is not a fan of Japanese RPG. He is a fan of games that come out in the west, I would rather read this opinion piece if it was done by Ryan Clements hes the biggest JRPG fan at IGN(hes also a really nice guy as well). People who are fans of a game should write about them not some who is IGNorant like Jack and does not understand the series as a whole.

I've never read any articles before on IGN, but this one made me mad. And it's obvious he doesn't have any respect for the JRPG genre. Most of his complaints were about KH's strongest points. Yes the storyline is confusing, but only to those who don't pay attention. And it is hard to explain to others, shouldn't games be like that? Where the plot is not transparent, you have to think to understand. It's not hack and slash game with Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts on the cover. It has depth and spirit that I have never experienced in any other game. And yes it does get annoying to buy expensive handhelds to keep up, but I wouldn't have bought a PSP. But I love the PSP. It introduces you to new handheld/consoles. And if you don't want to buy one, there is youtube!

He brought up the many different Soras but failed to mention the 12 or so incarnations of Xehanort that we may be seeing in KH 3D. And the characters are relate able, though I find it hard to relate with Sora sometimes. haha.

On a more serious note, I've liked the Kingdom Hearts series more and more with every new game that comes out, which pretty much means I disagree with everything that writer complains about the series.

Kingdom Hearts certainly does not suck but I do see his viewpoint. It would be interesting to see the story and characters go a more mature/dark path but obviously Disney is the blockade on that. He's also right that the same worlds have been recycled quite a lot. You can't say you aren't just a little sick of Wonderland and Agrabah. The series is great, the guy is wrong there, but he does point out a few elephants in the room.

IGN and Gamespot, Sonic Unleashed was a very good game, when i saw they rated 4.5 and 3.5 respectively never again i pay attetion to their reviews
