It's not very often that we get told in no uncertain terms that a franchise arc is coming to an end. And it's double-y rare in that we're getting two this year (Assassin's Creed being the other one). There are always theories about what will happen, and it's rare that a game will completely blow it out of the water with a twist. It's difficult, in this case, to gauge how a game like Mass Effect 3 will end, given the fact that there are various endings anyway, but there will always be an overall definitive "canon" ending.

Apparently Bioware have been planning this ending for years and pretty much all the questions that gamers have about the characters and story will be answered by the end. Which is a little bit heart-breaking when you remember that the entire script was leaked last year.

But anyhow, I'm just throwing up this thread to ask how you think the Commander Shepard trilogy will end but also what your dream ending would be?

I can't really see them realistically ending it any other way if I am honest, though they very well might have a diverging ending like inFamous 2. In fact, I hope they do to be honest, it would be mucho interesting...

You know I gotta agree with Sam on this. After that I believe James Vega will take over as the "new Shepard" for Mass Effect 4(I think it will happen).

Doubtful that Vega will take over considering he's only in the game to act as a catch-up device for those who have never played the last two games. Not to mention, Vega has a set appearance and changing it in ME4, if that even happens, would break the consistency.

Maybe I'm being cynical, but I can't get over the idea that BioWare have nowhere else to go but to have the organics prevail over the reapers, whether at the cost of someone's life or not would be up to the player, I can't see them taking that choice element out of the game.

Not playing the Mass Effect series makes it hard to form an opinion but I do hope they do it like inFamous 2 where one main ending is the world saved and the other the universe screw to death.
