So I guess there's one upside to being lost all the time. Just loaded up on level 5 spells too woot!

That's the only thing I hate about open-overworld non-linear games...You can accidentally end up spending too much time wondering/grinding that by the time you actually catch up to the story, the battles are WAY too unbalanced and 'unfun'

You definitely need to grind! I've been finding those river battles to be quite good for grinding, but I'm almost level 30. XD

heh, if this were oldstyle, you'd only need 20 levels to hit the cap ^_^

Haha, unfortunately, I'm playing the easy peasy PSP version. Tongue

I'm now up to date!

Is it just me, or are the boss battles giving really lame EXP compared to some of the random world map encounters? XD

Roar! Checkpoint. Each of my characters are 25. And yes, the creek mobs were harder than most bosses... they killed poor Chloe in one round (ambushed) >_<

Something occurred to me after trying the NES version of FFI then going back to the PSP version, and it's something I'm not proud of. I like my turn based RPGs relatively easy. When it comes to platformers, shooters, action RPGs or whatever I like a challenge. But with turn based RPGs I like it to be able to get through the game with relative ease and enjoy the story and overall experience. I think it's because turn based battles tend to be somewhat time consuming and often repetitive. When I fight a long boss battle then end up losing the thought of having to do it all over again is unpleasant. Obviously when you defeat a very difficult boss there's that sense of satisfaction, but it's not something I really miss.

So there it is. I've outed myself as a lazy RPGer. I guess I'll just have to embrace it.

If it's any constellation, Zeru (Thief) is my squishiest character too. XD You really pack a punch, but take the most damage. There is still no real armour upgrades for anyone but Zero (Fighter). XD

I know exactly what you mean, but I wouldn't say that it makes you necessarily a lazy RPG-er. There are plenty of people that will rage quit in such circumstances, especially when it's a boss with some sort of insta-kill attack.

checkpoint reached, and another very lucky battle, again due to exploration by the time i reached marilith i had no potions and no healing spells left and my characters HP were all in the 200-250HP, my warrior was the only who could do any serious damage so with him dead i would definately lose, due to 2 fire2 spells my warrior had only 17 HP left while the other had around 60HP and i was sure the next attack would kill my warrior, then the fiend attacked the warrior twice with physical attacks, thankfully the warrior has a super high defense and survived with 5HP and delivered the final blow on marilith Big Grin

waiting for the start of week 3 Smile
