stupid Kraken, killed my Black mage and White mage with 1 hit -.-, luckily for me, he wasnt a match against my warrior and Ninja so he went down easily Big Grin, now all thats left is getting to mirage tower

Does anyone else find the sunken shrine a lot easier than earth cave and Mt gulg? In earth cave and Mt gulg i always had 99 potions ready, and by the time i reached the fiend i had used all my potions and healing spells, in sunken shrine i still had 80 potions and most healing spells xD

Got to the checkpoint, I just wondered around completing things for this one though. I didn't know how long I had been playing until my PSP turned off due to a low battery. I remember what desert to find the airship, completed the Citadel of Trials and got my upgraded characters. My characters are now pretty awesome compared to my last playthrough of the game a few years ago.

On my last playthrough, I had a Monk instead of the Thief I have on this playthrough. But I find that putting up with the poorly defended thief pays off massively. He can now cast Haste and Temper, making my strength buffs so much easier as well as being able to use my Knight's weapons. Whenever my Knight gets a new sword, I give the Ninja the old one and they both remain pretty awesome strength wise.

My party is about Lv 34 and make mince meat of most of the game's standard enemies, Kraken barely touched me, I powered up my Ninja and Knight, dealt a few powerful blows as well as a couple of Thundagas and he was dead. I remembered him being harder...

In terms of actual progress, this checkpoint was much shorter. It was only long if you did a lot of extra stuff or got lost, like I did. I didn't want to get any tips so I relied on old memories. I ended up doing the Citadel of Trials before doing the Ice Cave. I then got the airship, then the Warp Cube, Character upgrades, Oxyale then finally the Rosetta Stone. A pretty weird order, but it just shows how open this game is, especially for how old it is. The skyrim of its day.

The only thing that is annoying me at the moment is the Max HP values of my characters.

At Level 34:

Cloud - Knight - 654
Locke - Ninja - 451
Garnet - White Wizard - 568
Vivi - Black Wizard - 264

My black wizard's HP is pathetic, even on my last playthorugh, he had 673 when my other characters had 750+. Whenever I encounter an enemy that is able to 40 damage on super armoured Knight, my black wizard is screwed. Has anyone else found this?

Quick little tip for you guys.
Are you sure you're done in the Sunken Shrine? Obviously you guys got the crystal, but did you snag the key item that was there? You had to go the opposite direction to get it. It's the Rosetta Stone, and you might find yourself seriously lost w/o it next week. So if you have to go back in and locate it, it's not too hard to find, just hit up the other set of stairs on the floor you entered on.

I have a question for the PS1/NES players. How useful is the Healing Staff in those versions? In the PSP version it makes an easy game even easier. I barely had to use any potions or healing spells in the Sunken Shrine because I had my White Wizard use the Healing Staff every turn.

Also, checkpoint reached. Big Grin

Ugh, I went and fell into Hellfire Chasm on accident while looking for the turn-in for class up. Ugh... place is huge. Think I'm going to kill my party off to get out as I don't think I'd have the mana to take out the second boss anyhow.

for the NES players, I guess it would depend on if they had the space, considering only a total of 16 different weapons can be carried at any one time, not to mention the fact that only the one holding it could use it. But as for the PS1 players, I guess it's a little more likely to be useful. I know I used the heck out of it (as well as other magical equipment) in my white mage challenge, and as long as the battle was not too terribly tough, I could heal quickly ^_^

The Sunken Shrine is exhausting... getting there.

checkpoint reached, i think the Ps1 version isnt that hard, i mean, at the beggining it was quite dificult, but as you progress the game becames much easier in my opinion, lets hope next week brings more challange Tongue

That is weird, I think I remember some being said about the stat system in week 1. Another thing is that I am playing the PSP version, they might have lowered the health for the Black Mage. Across my 2 playthroughs on the PSP, the Black Mage has always been the lowest.

yeah, it's based off of the same system used in FF2, where your increases are based on damage taken and stuff.
