Ok, that is depressing. I know that Nintendo's greatness has nothing to do with their graphics, but they need it if they want 3rd party support...or HD Zelda.

Nintendo will always be the place for 1st party titles, their back catalogue is unmatched. Sadly it's only ever about the 1st party titles, seems like the WiiU might not change that.

I hope I'm not the only one that wasn't surprised by this? Rumor or not, it's to be expected that since GC, Nintendo has always been conservative in their hardware. Bringing their console to current HD standards will be cheap allowing them to maximize profits at release. They aren't out to make a $500+ machine, which is what would happen if they pushed the graphics higher along with their tablet controller.

Nintendo knows how to pull a profit, they don't want to risk a $500+ machine, they want $300 one.

Nintendo doesn't need better graphics. I still thoroughly enjoy playing the ol' NES and SNES, even with the Block Heads.

Nintendo's audience has simply changed over the years. They know they can't compete with the likes of Sony & Microsoft, so why even try to push to their levels, spending tons of cash to do so? Might as well stay back a bit, and continue to create for the younger generations and families, with a focus on creativity, engaging, and educational games/systems.

They're not going to catch Wii-lightning in a bottle twice. All the Nintendo 1st party titles in the world couldn't make the Gamecube a sales sensation. But real gamers know that the system had some irreplaceable gems. Back then, Nintendo still had too much pride to milk their franchises. Now, we're up to two Mario games and two Zelda games on one console. I think milking their franchises is the only option they have left.

When the Wii U is released, all they'll need is to release a Mario game and Smash Brothers game and then sit back for a year. Then, release Mario Kart 8, sit back for another year. Then release Zelda: Groundward Pound or whatever and do nothing for another year. Boom, they're halfway through the Wii U's life cycle and they've sold millions and only needed 4 games.

I wonder if they'll work in any 3DS connectivity?

Don't believe any of these false rumors. I'm sure that lots of people benefit off of people believing such crap(Microsoft and Sony), but that doesn't mean it is the least bit true. It isn't very credible if you can't state the developer anyway. =P

Nintendo does need better graphics, otherwise third-party companies won't be inclined to release software on the platform.
