Quote:If it seems like it's cheating to bunch a handful of games together in one entry... well, it kind of is. There are a number of other Final Fantasy games that I would consider to be “gems,” but each of them was chosen for some very specific aspect. Final Fantasy IV, VI, and VII are probably the least radical of the modern entries -- and therefore, the least unique -- yet they're considered to be the most beloved entries in the series.

All these games are truly some of the best games and JRPGs out there. My favourite is IV. I love all these games (I’m still yet to beat VI but I still love it). They are all unique and special in all gamers' hearts.

And I'm going to say it, Remake these games in full 3D Backgrounds and models and in HD.

Out of these three, IV was my Favourite.

I've yet to beat VI, but I doubt it'll be better than IV

great article, in my opinion these three FF are responsible for the franchise sucess, and like many others here, of these three FF IV is also my favourite, is a shame FF IV doesnt get the credit it deserves Sad...its definately one of the best in the series, but people seem to ignore it

FFIV was my first ever FF game. It is definately my favorite of the "old guard" Final Fantasies.

Very well written article, I enjoyed it.

I have yet to play IV and VI, I do own them, and I'm somewhat familiar with the characters because of Dissidia. From that experience alone, I can tell that IV and VI are beautiful games, and they will be played soon. Smile

I think you meant FFV instead of FFVII. Tongue (jk)

I still need to play through FFVII one of these days, though. Stopped at the beginning of Disc 2 and never completed it.

FFVII is my favorite Final Fantasy. It is the most well loved, and hated game of the series for a reason. And while many people hate it purely because it's so overhyped, I thing that if they sit down and play through the game with an open mind, they find a great story, a great world, and some great characters. You just have to get over the horrible-by-today's-standards graphics.

FFIV I didn't really like all that much until I got my hands on the DS version. I know that the lynch mob is drawing near, but hear me out. 4's menu system felt like the most broken to me, and it caused me to dislike playing the game. Everything else about the game was good, but I just didn't like having to deal with a menu that wasn't too user friendly for it's time. That was something that was not a problem for me in the DS version, as the menu there was workable, and even fun (I loved seeing the characters thoughts at different points in the game

FFVI, although not my favorite, is still, in my opinion, the best of the series. FF6 really pushed the boundaries with the most stunning graphics, the most impressive music, and an almost unheard of 14 playable character cast. To me, FFVI is the gold standard for JRPGs

Three FF games I've played to different amounts of completion and to different levels of enjoyment.

I've not given IV enough time, I've only touched it once and got as far as Cecil's conversion. It was the DS version, and I actually found it pretty hard. Also, like Zero said, the UI was pretty clunky.

VI I've played second-most, up til about half way, and I've enjoyed it the most of the three aswell. Great graphics considering it's time, and one of my favourite character-enhancement systems behind junctioning and the sphere grid/crystarium. Still have that saved game lying around so I don't think I'm done with it yet.

I have a strange relationship with VII. I've played it to the end game (not yet completed) but I've never found the motivation to complete it all. That, and I've never enjoyed it as much as later games. I think it's because I had played VIII and IX first. Clunky in places, and I found holding down a button to run really irritating Tongue I enjoyed the story though, which I think is what ultimately kept me going.
