the premise of this thread is very simple, yet extremely complicated. What is GU to you? what does it mean to you? how important is it to you? ect.?

To me, Gaming Union is a home, it is more than just a VG news website, it is a website who's content is strongly driven by member interaction. What GU does, at least in my eye, is bring gamers from all around the world, from all walks of life even, together and makes them closer. I have made many great friends in GU, and I am proud to be an active member of the community.

To me, it's a social channel where I can talk to like-minded folks who won't give me the thousand-mile stare when I talk their ear out about video games, my thoughts about the industry's directions; my hopes and fears regarding the future of the medium. In many ways, it's a social channel that allows gamers to realize that while we have many similarities that bring us together as a community (the genres and franchises we love/hate), there is still a vast diversity to opinions regarding the real world, ranging from music to politics.

It's kinda a conflict of interest for me to comment in this thread, so I won't say much more than that I pretty much consider all the members that take part in the community events that I organise to just be my friends. So for me, GU is a place to hang out with my buddies. <3

For me GU is a place where I can come and discuss anything with a group of awesome people with similar likes and dislikes. I love to talk about the things I'm passionate about, i.e. games, movies, music, etc. and it's good to have an audience who feel the same, and will give their opinions rather than the 'oh yeah, that's nice' reply I get from those who don't xD
It's a place where I've met great friends and hope to meet more in the future, and where I've had some amazing times playing games at clan meets =D

I love the discussions that arise here. The main site is going from strength to strength, there is a TON of member interaction and the community is well mannered and mature. Whilst I still haven't met anyone from the forums in person (yet!), I would consider many to be much more than a simple acquaintance. I am priviledged to be able to work with the fantastic moderation team along with the other staff and I hope the site keeps on rising, because I can't imagine the day that I am without Gaming Union.

To me GU is a place where I can be myself. Talk about what I want, when I want. And, it's fun! Once I've been here a while longer I'll have much more to add to this. And the community members are so nice and it's great to get into a discussion and not have to deal with self-righteous people on the internet. This (to me) is one of the few places online where you can be honest, because everyone else is too. It's so refreshing.
