I had an interesting topic pop in my head yesterday when my brother was visiting. He was eye-balling my currently unused PSP and PSP collection as to borrow them. Sadly my PSP has been semi-useless since I had to deactivate it from my PSN account for my Vita. Anywho, I know my brother well enough to know that he doesn't take care of things. Whenever he asks to borrow games I recall stacks of game disks sitting out on dressers getting scratched. Thus I generally claim I'm going to play it later, or just that I don't trust him.

I love my games and game consoles. For that I generally take very special care in handling and keeping them cleaned/protected. To the point that some people around me wouldn't dare to even ask if they can borrow something. Sometimes I'll give them the hawk-eye look while they are using it!

All my consoles get weekly dustings, all screens get screen protectors, all handhelds get protective wraps or pouches, all games stay in original cases, and all games stay on my cleaned shelf. I'm sooo protective!

How about you all? Are you overprotective, or just throw things out when they are too scratched/destroyed.

I will never ever leave discs out, but I'm one of those people that rarely puts them back into the right case (they just get put in the case of whatever I'm looking to play next). I'm also very conscious about not getting scratches on the screen of my handheld consoles, however not to the extent that I've actually gone out to buy a carry case yet.

I never used to let my brothers use the main controller for my PlayStation and always made them use the second one, whether or not they were playing on their own (which thinking about it is a little silly, considering the spare controller was used much less, thus was nicer). My younger brother has been known to ragequit. I'm not so bad with that anymore, because I know if they break a controller, they'll just buy me a replacement.

While I'm pretty easy going with lending DVDs to people, I'm rather strict about lending games. Firstly, they're much more expensive, but it's mainly because I know that if I no longer have access to a specific game, I'll suddenly get a huge urge to play it. XD

Well, interesting topic indeed. When I was younger, I wasn't really all that protective of games, but then again, I grew up gaming in the era where games would actually last a long time due to being protected by a nice thick plastic coating. As I grew into the era of disks though, I was a little more careful, as I tried to keep disks in cases of some kind (even if it wasn't the original.

Throughout time, I've had too many games go missing though (usually stolen -_- ), and thus I've become more than over-protective. I don't like lending games out at all (I try to limit my nephew to only borrowing 1 game, and only for 2 weeks tops these days) I let people play my games, but when it comes to something on a cart or card, if it only has 1 file, then I automatically say NO! (I had a problem once with my brother playing Yu-Gi-Oh! Nightmare Troubadour and saving after beating a duel, and it was a boss duel too, which made it worse -_- ) and I prefer that people supply their own memory cards for playing my games (my memory is precious to me)

Yes I'm very protective of my games. I never leave out any disks out in the open and I also dust my consoles on a weekly basis, so your not the only one who does that Zeruel. Now I got even more protective with my games when I was 13 when my best friend's brother stole four of my favourite PS2 games(I hid these games somewhere secretive and he still found/stole them). My guess he probably traded them at a EB games location since he owned a Xbox at the time(I don't trust this guy anymore). I learned to not leave my games a lone with anyone, so I am very over protective of my games. I could never prove it was him but I knew it was him cause the bag he was carrying got a little heavier after he left(Geez I wonder why).

I may have trust issues when it comes to my games.

I can't says I blame ya. I have the same problem after my best friend's gf (now ex-gf) stole 7 of my gamecube games. Although, in that incident, I had lent my gamecube and games to my friend so that they had something to do other than watch the same movie over and over again
They had no system at the time, and maybe had a small handful of movies, so I had lent them my gamecube and games (and this was the only person I would ever lend my systems to).

I actually fell into a great depression for a month, didn't go over to his house for a week, and didn't play my GC for a month. I even almost decided to give up gaming as a whole

sadly, if it weren't for the depression, I could have gotten the games back. She had traded them in to my local gamestop (I know this for a fact, because one of them had an old Gamecrazy reciept). if it weren't for the fact that the police were "too busy" at the time, I might had gotten them back (but then again, if I had gone to gamestop the day she traded them in, I might have been able to get them back as well -_-)

I never, EVER let anyone borrow any of my games or console. I don't want to be one of the victims that you hear around that they let someone borrow something and never returned it. Sure, I'll let people play my games/consoles, but only if I'm in the vicinity. Heck, I don't even like people coming into my room to play games. I'll generally go to other people's places with my games, so that there's no chance that people can come over and steal games from under my nose. And if my bro ever decided to steal a game from me...That would end badly for him, let's just say.

As for consoles, I don't really care about the upkeep as long as it still works (other than keeping screens protected), but I try very hard to make sure none of my games get damaged, which I'm happy to say has worked over the years. Heck, I'm so obsessed with not damaging games that I really hate buying used games. If I'm gonna have a damaged game, I'm gonna damage it myself (not likely though...XD)

Now...If only there was a safe big enough to story everything...

I would feel very guilty about selling a friends game(s). I can't believe friends would do that! Rgh! I feel so bad just reading about something like that!

I take great care with my games, however over the years cases and disks have gotten dented and scratched. My brother had temper problems when he was younger (not so much anymore, gratefully) but when he would get mad, he'd throw the Ps2 controller at the wall or on the floor. Made me so mad. And he never put games in cases. Now, I think he takes better care of his games Smile

You bet I am very protective of my games and systems. I don't let people borrow my games unless I know I can trust they will take good care of them. I always take my games and place it in the case when I'm done. I also never leave my system on around my nieces and nephews. Back in the day when I was playing final fantasy 7 I left to use the restroom and when I came back the disk tray was open and the disk was cracked. OMG I freaked out and eventually replaced the game but still it was horrible. I was on the third disk too. If she had to break a disk why couldn't it have been either the fist or second one? Anyways I treat my technology very special.

I'm careful about keeping disks clean but as for the console itself I'm not too concerned. I am wary of playing my PS3 for too long and it overheating because I was the victim of a YLOD a while ago. I don't even know if that makes a difference but you can't be too careful.

Fortunately the only person who would even want to borrow games from me is my sister and I know I can trust her because she's as careful as I am with her games.

When you live in house with little brothers...you need to be 'over-protective' of your games...That's all I need to say XP
