I\'m honestly expecting to see FF15 announced at E3 this year ...

Duke Nukem Forever took at least 10 years in development hell. That's quite a record to break.

I\'m pretty sure they\'ll announce FF XV before Versus XIII release. Square Enix has a bad habit of starting projects with too many mandates and not much of a track record for completing said projects. They\'ve got their hands in too many cookie jars and become too indecisive with their ideas of completeness. On one hand the consumer becomes impatient for a game release, and those that are patient are let down because they were hoping for something that would cater only to the hardcore fans interests. All speculation of course.

Forgot about that game but then I never followed that. Ok maybe not world record but Square\'s record at least. I don\'t want to wait until 2016 for it.

If they don\'t release Versus XIII soon, then the PS4 will be out and they do what they did with XIII and rewrite everything for the new technology and fiddle with that for afew years before the release it!

Please don\'t do it, Square!

I'm thinking that they will be announcing that they are in the thikning process of XV giving a brief plot. They have a lot on there plate with all these different games that they are doing like with the ff XIII XIII-2 the DLC's and others.

I'm thinking that V XIII will come out in the next 2 years or hopefully sooner. Becausse when there done with that they have a lot more to work on and more games to create like KH for example. Another big demand from their loyal fans.

I'm one who can be patient for that though. As long as I can play new games that lead up to it, I'm happy.

The real Q shouldve been, Do you think Square Enix will announce Final Fantasy XIII-3 before Final Fantasy Versus XIII is released?

Which I think the answer is big yes. At this point, Versus might as well be cancelled and it has already been confirmed that it wont be shown at 2012\'s E3. I think thats that from Versus in this year.

And I see FFXV as a next gen title maybe announcement in 2-3 years? lol, still seems pretty plausible that it will announced before Versus comes out.

"Fool, prate not to me about covenants. There can be no covenants between men and lions, wolves and lambs can never be of one mind, but hate each other out and out an through. Therefore there can be no understanding between you and me, nor may there be any covenants between us, till one or other shall fall and glut grim Ares with his life's blood."

The real question is, will FF XV be ruined by being MMO or online in general again. And chances are, FF XV will be made by Ito\'s team, so it won\'t be a hindrance to Nomura\'s team. It will be announced at TGS most likely. With new SE policy to make games faster, I assume it should be already in process.

There was some news ages and ages ago, that Final Fantasy XV would return to the Active Time Battle system.

One example of this would be the Mega Man series, Capcom went and experimented a little in 7 and 8 with new graphics and a few special stage and cutscenes. They saw that it didn't work so they returned to the classic style, and everbody loved Mega Man again.

Square experimented with MMOs with XI, then experimented with open and less turn-based battles in XII. XII didn't work very well, so put transitions back in with XIII while keeping it not very focused on set turns. XIII had mixed opinions so they created a sequel to further explore the world as people who finished XIII mostly enjoyed the story. They got opinions from gamers to create a better game. People were still playing XI so they took another stab at the MMO genre with XIV, but they made it different from XI so that people would have a reason to play it.

Square have to return to the classic ATB system to continue with the series and remain successful with it. However, they also have to create XIII-3 because many gamers (including me) need to have an ending to the XIII series after the ending of XIII-2.

Square may make another MMO, but that should be after FFXIX (if they get that far) and they need a new fresh team that are passionate and knowledgeable about MMOs and their designs as well as have a passion for the Final Fantasy universe. This team needs to know where to make the perfect blend of the two so that the Final Fantasy aspect doesn't overshadow the MMO gameplay and vice versa.

Come on Square, you can do this if you think about it as well as keep other IPs like Kingdom Hearts.

Those weren\'t news, juts rumors.

XII worked absolutely perfectly, in fact they should have just continued with that format. Fighting enemies on the battlefield without annoying screen changes. And with XIII, where you do nothing but fight every 5 seconds for the entire game, this gets annoying REALLY fast. They might as well just kept random encounters.
Exploring the world couldn\'t be any further removed from the XIIIs concept. The only reason XIIIs had any success at all is just the name recognition and the fact that it\'s on PS3 now. Thus they made XIII-2, to cash on the still lingering success of \"HEY, FINAL FANTASY ON PS3, I\'LL BUY NO MATTER WHAT\".

What they need to do is stay away from MMO and jumping the shark with battle system as far away as possible, and focus on what made all previous, barely changing, entries so great. Story and characters.
