Man, I'm pumped after 2 days of great Vita news. XSEED announced today that it will be bringing Ragnarok Odyssey for the Vita to the US! Here's some basic rundown on the game I wrote up for my blog that I wanted to share with you all!

Quote:Ragnarok Odyssey is an amazing action adventure title for the Playstation Vita. It was originally release in Japan, developed by Game Arts and Published by GungHo. On May 3rd, XSEED announced they would be localizing the title to the US. It will be released in physical form and digital is expected. So far they have a Summer 2012 release window.

The visuals in RO are amazingly beautiful and features colorful environments. From Forests, to Lakesides, to Caves, to Ice Caverns, Temples, Magma Caverns and more; there's plenty to explore. On top of the environments, characters and monsters are slightly cartoonish but not too far. Animations are very well done and its combat is addictive to see what amazing visuals you produce in your pain delivering. I also love that damage is displayed flying off your opponent which makes it fun to see what insane numbers you can produce.

Music in the game is definitely soothing to listen to in lighter areas, and helps to improve the intensity in heavy situations. Sound effects are great as well, as it's fun to hear the almost nostalgic similar sounds to the classic Ragnarok titles. I'll be interested to see how they do with the localized voices.

The gameplay is both fun and addicting as each class features different fighting styles, combos, and button combinations to provide different strategies. You have basic attack, a special attack, dash, and jump. Charging the special and pressing two buttons at the same time can produce secondary attacks, as well as stringing different buttons can unleash crazy combos. The mixture of enemies, each with their own tactics for pummeling you also provides some unique gameplay experiences and helps mix it up. The towering bosses can also provide some serious challenges to the more dedicated.

RO features 5 playable classes which include Warrior, Cleric, Mage, Hunter, and Assassin. The warrior wields a massive two handed sword and specializes in wide melee damage. The Cleric wields defense and counter as well as provides healing. The Hunter specializes in long range fast attacks. The Assassin is quick and full of melee combos. Lastly the Mage specializes in heavy area magic damage. After a few quests, the game also allows you to change classes which is a great plus.

Ragnarok Odyssey centralizes around a home town hub where you can buy and upgrade weapons and armor, as well as collect unique gear and accessories. Also, in true Ragnarok fashion this includes goofy addons like a box over the head, a poring (blob creature) hat, and much more. This area also serves as the place you'll accept quests of all sort from killing a particular camp of monsters to killing huge bosses. These quests can be done solo, or by joining a group of friends at the tavern. Which brings us to our next topic.

One of the biggest features in Ragnarok Odyssey is in fact the community aspect. By entering the tavern you can link up with 3 other players to hang out or take on quests and bosses. Once synced up, you can chat via text or use emoticons and emotes to communicate. This helps change the game from a basic action adventure, into a fun clan based hunting game.

I guess I can describe Ragnarok Odyssey as MonsterHunter meets Ragnarok Online meets Gods Eater meets my Vita. I've enjoyed my experience playing the demo, I love what I'm seeing in retail gameplay, and I can't wait to play with everyone else online. I'm still hoping XSEED releases a physical copy of the game, but either way, I want this game bad!

You know Zeruel, you and me are probably the biggest Vita fan boys who are not staff on this site. Hearing that the Vita is getting an JRPG like Ragnorok Odyssey. I'm getting excited now plus I hope that we will hear more Vita news at E3 hopefully some more kickass games that we have been wanting for a while.

Haha, yeah. It's hard not to love the Vita. I havn't really had an issue with not having enough titles to play, the 6 I have now are keeping me very well occupied and happy. But I'm definitely looking into the future and I'm happy to see I may have a pile-of-shame in no time ^_^

I'm definitely looking forward to E3. To see some early shots of Assassin's Creed, Killzone, Bioshock, and Dragon's Crown. Of course some new titles too!

Think the only thing that can make me love my Vita even more right now is PS1Classic support and some discounted PSP titles on PSN (like what Atlus did recently).

Edit: Woohoo, they announced that Ragnarok Odyssey will have a physical copy release! And they set a release window of summer 2012. I'm just way happy right now.
