KH3 - about 2006
VS13 - about 2006

As much as a remake of VII is appealing, I agree with Hunter and I'd rather they finish up a few games first (namely V-XIII, XV, KH 3 and localize Type-0). I'm glad that they realize this, it's not the right time to work on a project like this.

Really? They wanted a remake 4 years (ish) after it came out? That's a long time, but FF VII has gotten all the attention aside from Fabula Nova Crystallis. They had 3 games and a movie, I feel like they had enough attention for now. Finish up FNC compilation and move on from there. That's what I think.

but in all due seriousness, yes, there are a few fans around that actually still care about a remake for 7. the numbers may be smaller due to the surge of hate for 7 over the past few years, but there are people who still love and care about 7, and a possible remake

Fans may have been waiting for the remake since 2001 but the real demand for the remake began when that FF7 PS3 tech demo was shown at E3 2005. Versus 13 is probably coming in 2013 and once that game is done they will start working on KH3 for the PS3 which could take maybe til late 2015(just assuming). If a FF7 remake does come it will probably or may come near FF7's 20th anniversary(just assuming again).

I really would like a FF7 remake but a FF6 remake would be nice to have as well.

I'm just gonna pretend Square officially put this whole "maybe we'll remake VII" cycle to rest and just come out clean that the remake is not going to happen. Ever. Chapter done. Book closed. End of story. Next.

I think if they start remaking VII they would have to start remaking others as well as to not disappoint other fans. I'm pretty sure that if they do it, it'll be far in the future, my guess is the 25th anniversary. (holy crap I'd be turning 30!)

I don't want to see a Final Fantasy VII remake at this point. There are a lot of people who care about that game a great deal and are invested in that game, and any remake will fail to live up to what people want out of game, and I'm guessing will even tarnish the game in many players minds.

First the game play would have to change, espically if it is a full PS3 release. I don't think they could market a $59.99 game with 15 year old game play. Second, I doubt they would keep the script the same and just redo it with new graphics. The story and characters of VII has been expanded and changed since VII's original release. I'd guess they'd want to include a bunch of those changes in the script for a VII remake.

I just don't think a Final Fantasy VII remake would be a "re-release" of VII re-skinned with Advent Children graphics. There would be changes, and the changes you've thought about the last 5-6 years probably the only changes Square Enix would make, if they even made any of the ones you'd want to see at all (assuming you aren't someone who wants to see a re-skin). When you look at movies, re-makes generally take the same basic premise and then give us a different direct, writer, producer, actors take on the material, remakes are often quite different then the originals. I think of Final Fantasy VII was remade, thats what we'd get, and I dunno if thats what most fans really want.

Final Fantasy VII has been re-released. Its easy to get a hold off and at (I believe) $9.99 its not overly expensive. I think its best to leave the game in the past, play the re-release when/if you want a Final Fantasy VII fix, and change the graphics in your minds eye. That verison of the game will make you happier then a real re-make ever will.
