This week Roy Hodgson announced the England squad for the Euros this Summer:

Goalkeepers - Joe Hart, Robert Green, John Ruddy.

Defenders - Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Glen Johnson, Phil Jones, Joleon Lescott, John Terry.

Midfielders - Gareth Barry, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Scott Parker, Theo Walcott, Ashley Young.

Strikers - Andy Carroll, Jermain Defoe, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck.

Standby - Jack Butland, Phil Jagielka, Jordan Henderson, Adam Johnson, Daniel Sturridge.

What do you guys think?

Personally, I'm a bit confused as to why Sturridge or Crouch wasn't chosen as one of our main strikers in place of Andy Carrol, or Carrick in place of Downing (and his amazing 0 goals/assists in the league last season ). Oh, and also Micah Richards. He should be there too.

Love the squad.. ashame Sturridge and Crouch didnt get in and also Rio but I mean thats a good consistent squad.

After seeing Carroll's performance against Chelsea at the FA Cup Final, I am not surprised he was chosen for the euro squad. He was a beast that day!

Other than that, seems like an alright squad.

I'm a Liverpool fan so seeing Stuey's name was a shock. 0 goals and 0 assists in the league. Well, he had an assist when King Kenny got sacked. But still happy that Captain Fantastic will be the captain. IMO, Carrol has better work rate than Crouch and Sturridge, if you watch him play, he is just too greedy with the ball. And they don't have a good sub for Glen Johnson.

Here's hoping Spain will win back-to-back in the euros.

That day... and maybe the last two-three weeks of the season. Rest of the year he's been pants.

Downing has that 0 goals/0 assists stat hanging over his head, but he's ok as backup I reckon.

Think Crouch should be in there as at least third choice striker, his goal record for England is fantastic!

Im portuguese and i think Portugal wont make it past the group phase, i mean Germany, Netherlands and Denmark are real tough teams. As for the winner, i really doubt its Spain this time, maybe Germany or Italy.

It wouldn't be wise to judge a player based on one match. That was definitely one of his best performances of last season from what I saw from him. But who knows? I hope he can prove my doubts wrong!

If Hodgson can make them work, we might be in with a small, small shout. It really relies on Gerrard and Lampard being able to sort it out together, and that everyone performs. I rate Glen Johnson as a winger, but he cannot defend particularly well at all. If he plays anything like he did in the world cup he would stay well off the pitch for me. Downing has had an off season, but he might be okay. It will be a completely different team and atmosphere. Generally though I still think that the team is weak - when you look at Spain, Germany, the Netherlands et al we don't really look like competing. We have a good group though.

I'm thinking we may scrape through our group stages if, like you said, Hodgson can make them work, but my prediction is that the first knockout round will be as far as we go, sadly.
