Known as Final Fantasy Legends: Warriors of Light and Darkness in Japan, Final Fantasy Dimensions has been revealed as part of SE's E3 lineup, to be released on iOS and Android.

Thoughts on this? Has anyone had any kind of access to the original Japanese game? It draws a lot of influence from the early FF games, such as the theme of light v darkness, crystals, and (yay) the classic job system.

As a mobile gamer I'm likely to pick this up when it comes out over here, but obviously, it's too early to say when that might be.

I'm personally not a fan of mobile phone platform gaming, nor digital only titles. So I can't say I'm excited when titles are made for it specifically. That said, I know there's a market for it. And for those that like it, it's cool for them definitely.

I'll probably pick it up. I thought Secret of Mana was a bit of a chore to play on my iPhone, but if this one is turn-based it should be easier than the mana-style games. I love exploring the job system and the nature of the old school games so it's probably going to be right up my alley. Can't wait for E3 to find out more about this and everything else.

All I can say is that Japanese Smartphones must have amazing batteries in them, because I would never dream of playing a full game on my phone in the daytime. Confused

Knowing them they probably carry extra batteries with them and swap them out Tongue It's definitely more of a sitting around with the phone plugged in / using the car charger sort of thing.

I wouldn't imagine battery life is much of an issue. Good mobile games are designed to be played in short bursts, even better ones keep you coming back. RPGs are obviously less suited for this style of play though, so I'd imagine these games are optimised to use less battery life. Any mobile game that would quickly kill your battery would disappear off the radar very quickly.

I agree, I'm not a big fan of that platform either. It would be really nice if it was released on the Vita and 3DS even if it was only a digital copy. But, I'm glad FF's going back to it's roots maybe that means there will be more classically styled games. Smile

Be careful Kevio, Square Enix is horrible at pricing on the iOS and Android platforms. I should know I bought FF1 for 15 bucks, never liked playing a game like that on my iOS device.
