I read recently on a walkthrough that you shouldn't level up because the monsters level up with the characters...or something like that. Can someone please explain this to me, I don't quite understand. TY Smile

It doesn't make too much of a difference. The monsters do level up with the characters, so theoretically, they don't get harder, they just get stronger as you do.

I say theoretically because your junctioning will have more of a say in how strong you are than what your level is. :)

The leveling system is in such a way that the lower level you are, the easier you can make it for youself, but you still need to know how to work the junction system. that is the start of the show here, along with Junctions, you also have the ability to refine things (including stat increasing items) to help make you stronger.

It's just like Skyrim. The enemies level up with your characters but your time is better spent drawing magic and figuring out the best way to junction it. Trying to draw 100 of a certain magic is very consuming and "junctioning" characters properly is very tedious, but then again so is leveling up.

they also level up, become stronger as you do... but as you level you will come up with a strategy to defeat them..

Ok, so stick with Junction and weapon upgrading? I can do that. It kinda sucks because at the beginning of the game I leveled up Squall a lot, like I do with a lot of RPG's, and my other characters are like ten levels behind. Gah! I think I'm just going to start over from scratch. I'm not that far into the game anyway Smile TY

That could be your problem, monster levels are taken as an average of your current party, so your other two party members might struggle a little. As said, if you junction ok, you won't have many issues (at least with the regular monsters :P )

Like many said already its all about junctioning your characters properly, i advice you to draw a lot of Cura/Curaga/Life/Full-life spells because those are very usefull to increase your characters HP a lot, as for increasing strengh/magic the best spells are meteor, ultima, triple and aura although those spells are only avaiable on disc 3/4 if im not mistaken, until then use Fira/Thundara/ Blizara spells, and the more number of spells you have, the stronger the boost is
