We have a thread for games that have failed the test of time, but how about some love for those that have survived

Risk - Sega Genesis- I own the game still to this day and play it on an emulator, very simple game but the AI stands the test of time even to this day

Any mario 2d platformer

The original Super Mario Bros. game, I can play it for hours at a time (Well, I could if I didn't suck at it, that is). Also, the first Zelda game, the first two Metroids, and the first Kirby.

Thinking...thinking...hm... I would say any of the Metroid games because, at their very basic level, it's a Mario game with shooting. Not to mention that they are fun as heck to play, over and over again. Or maybe that's for the ending...

Well, many people have stated it, and I would have to agree, ANY 2D side scroller Mario, including SMB, SMB3, and SMW

I find that Final Fantasy VIII has aged quite well, as has Final Fantasy VI.

Nothing ages better then a good Mega Man title, such as MM2 or MM3

Bubble Bobble is another game that has aged quite well

i have to go with SSBM i still play MMBN 3 and 4 (mostly for style changes and soul changes) FFX and FF9 still fun DW Gundam 2 (damn Trophies are hard to get! I mean come on, 1000 kills with a Zaku tank! Really?) MMX4 so awesome (always use Zero then MM cause with MM it's easier then with Zero IMHO) MGS2 (cause i am missing My MGS Twin Snakes for GC) KH2 fun to watch Cutscenes. and of course without a doubt SSF2 Turbo, Tekken 3, MK 3 and Marvel VS Capcom 2!!
