Quote:Thanks for all the fantastic responses to last week's Burning Question. We may have gone off on a few tangents while reading them out, but some of the points you guys made were awesome. It's so pleasing to know how much you guys care (or indeed don't care) about the future of the Fabula Nova Crystallis franchise.

I liked playing Rings of Fate but it came across as a younger audience. However, people with Nintendo Wii or 3DS tend to be yunger and less hard core (relatively) and hence the crystal chronicles may suit the Nintendo audience better than Dissidia (a fighting experience).

I\'ve only ever played the first one and tbh, thats the only one i\'d like to play. To answer the question: i would love a wiiu reboot of the first game, I just dont think its going to happen. Square is too busy with other stuff to make such grand plans for a franchise that has never been particularly successful.

I love the art style with all the ff9 character and monster designs, and i love the fact that it has that western theme of creating a voiceless hero. In truth, any game that allows me to create a character within a ff9 style universe interests me greatly. Right now, the first CC is that only game that fits that bill.

I cant wait to see what dev team 4 has in store for the future, but unfortunately i dont think it\'ll be this.

The stars shine brightest when all is dark.

I only played rings of fate, but i would like to be able to download the gamecube games on the WiiU. Other than that, I haven\'t played enough of the game to want more.

I played the first one on Gamecube and Crystal Bearers on Wii.

The first one is simply one of the most beautiful games I\'ve ever played. The music is perfect, soothing, tense or epic whenever required. The art was also perfect in my opinion. Even the Title Menu was beautiful! I would have liked more options when creating a custom character, but the available were great. A fatal letdown was the need for a GBA for multiplayer. It must have been perfect for Japan since even Moms play games and have consoles, but over here, well... Added to that was the fact that many features, like advanced spells, were only available on the multiplayer. Also, it lacked few spells and attacks, though the available were awesome. It was too simple perhaps. Yet, I loved it thoroughly. I even play it every now and then. The story is deep and emotive, despite it having very few characters per se. A great game in my opinion.

On the other hand there\'s Crystal Bearers... Ahh such a shame. The story had great potential, and it is quite good in fact, but what killed the game was the dull, nonsense and absurd point-and-click-like gameplay. Sure it had a good story, great characters, beautiful art, a so-so musical score, but the gameplay was just terrible. Even the final boss seemed like a joke. In short, they totally and abysmally screwed up a great idea.

So, would I like a reboot on WiiU. YES! Absolutely. But only as long as it goes back to it\'s roots and avoids new failures like Crystal Bearers...

Yes...I don't understand why some people don't like Crystal Chronicles, but I enjoyed those games and would a reboot if not a new entry to the series on Wii U

I also played the first one on the GameCube, and I never touched another one in the series after that. I was one of the few people who was actually able to play multi-player (we had a group of four people), with that game and it was extremely fun, but expensive.

Playing with more people also broke the games difficulty, which makes me wonder if they intentionally made it so hard to play multi-player on that game for that reason.

But if you played alone you couldn't really experience everything that game had to offer due to having just one set of parents. When you get multiple letters at the same time, you can see how much effort the writers put into the game, and the reactions sometimes are great. You also get to see how your family's store slowly expands...if you're a good son/daughter, that is.

The game did have some good things about it though. It had some great customizable things such as, different races with different choices of clothes for your avatar, you could pick what your family's occupation was, the random events while exploring the game were great, and the music is awesome.

If they did remake the original Crystal Chronicles for Wii U, I hope people can actually experience the game in a multi-player fashion without having to spend loads of cash or go through some complicated things to just experience it. I also hope, that they make it a bit more harder when you have more people playing as well.

I'm in the same boat as CaelumXIII. I played the first GC title which was very well designed. However I never got around to exploring it completely (maybe I should fire it up again sometime).

The second one I played was Crystal Bearers which had amazing action, character design, voice acting, scripting, and gameplay. However after the first few scenes, the game just falls apart and becomes junk.

I've always viewed Crystal Chronicles as a test bed series for the main series. For that reason, I never really explored it too much, so I won't claim my opinions on this should be majority. If it was my choice, I'd hope that they would take a step back to what Crystal Chronicles was before they walked into Crystal Bearers. As Crystal Bearers was nothing similar to the previous titles. To be honest I think Crystal Bearers was just a test bed for Versus 13's gameplay engine.

From what I've played of the original, and what I've seen of the later titles (minus Crystal Bearers); Crystal Chronicles is a great model for Square Enix to develop more cute and family fun titles. So why not launch into WiiU with an amazing cute coop title where you can pin all your shrub headed characters together to completing tasks? Shoot, to sweeten the deal even more, why not throw in some familiar faces from the FF saga? However, don't overdo it.

personally I would like to see another Crystal Chronicles title. The original on the Gamecube was actually one of my very first attempts at playing a Final Fantasy, and when I finally got a DS I just had to play the two that were on there.

If Square Enix does finally decide to develop another Crystal Chronicles I would personally hope for a game that is somewhat similar control wise to the first and design wise, Echoes of Time for the multiplayer components. Story wise they should probably keep it simple unlike the Crystal Bearers which just felt a little bizarre and too mature from what preceded it, that and maybe make it so that you could have a little more input into the design of your character.
