Week 1 of New Game Plus 4 where we're playing Valkyria Chronicles, chosen by the community!
New Game Plus is a community event where we all gather together to reach the same checkpoint of the same game each week. By doing this, in depth discussion is promoted as everyone is experiencing the same parts of a game at the same time. To join in with NGP, you need to grab a copy of the current game, find out what the current week's checkpoint, play along, and then join in the discussion!

This season of NGP sees us picking up Valkyria Chronicles after an extremely close poll vote! This is a tactical role-playing game that came out in 2008 from Sega. It's pretty popular amongst Unionites, so I wouldn't be surprised if most people have already played it, but never fear, there will always be some first timers!

This is the first week for this brand new season, so anyone can join in at this stage with no problem! Be sure to check the guidelines to participate and for details of where to play up until. Make sure to come back regularly to let us know how you're finding the game!

Valkyria Chronicles is to be split into five sections. This is Week 1!

GUIDELINES
- A new thread will go up each Thursday telling you where the next check point is. All discussion for each section must go in the relevant threads. Previous threads will remain open to let people catch up and let the conversation continue if they're a little behind or joined late.
- You MUST resist playing on past the scheduled check points. I know it's sometimes too tempting, but for these discussion threads to work we need to all be at the same point in the game. Besides, it's not in the spirit of this activity! However, there are plenty of side-quests for you to fill up your time, so maybe take a look at those.
- Please don't post spoilers for things that haven't happened in the game yet. We love that you're enthusiastic about it, but some people will be playing for the first time.
- However, you CAN post spoilers for anything that happens within the given section of the game. It would be thoughtful to use the [ spoiler][/spoiler ] tags to protect those still playing through, but it's not strictly necessary.
- There are no topics off limits here, so talk about anything and everything! Story is just one aspect, but if you love the sound design or hate the map, then speak up! Get a little more specific and in depth than usual!
- If you find yourself lost or stuck at any given point, post into this thread! The good thing with NGP is that people are playing alongside you and will remember exactly how to help you out!
- On the other side of the coin, if you've played this game before, feel free to take on a challenge and tell us all about how you're doing.

It begins. Unfortunately for me, I'm still at work. But I am going to do a...challenge of sorts.


Basically, I'm going to see how far I can possily go in this game without buying any new equipment or leveling up any classes.


Should be fun. Or extremely painful. Probably both.

OKAY! Reached the checkpoint and got it all recorded...and now for what this thread is meant for...

*ahem* First off, The art style is just awe-inspiring (if that is the right term to use) and from what I've listened to so far...The soundtrack is amazing! and I love how they used a book in order to set out the story and it definitely fits the sketch-like art-style, and the characters are just so fun to watch (it feels like I'm watching an anime...and I love me some anime ^_^). As an avid RTS player...the gameplay translated pretty well for me and I'll admit it was challenging for me too.

Well that was... laughable to be short and simple. Even on a completely new game, this was very easy and not even a challenge. I am not going to be surprised if by tomorrow everyone was done heh. I wish I could go one more mission, but I am going to wait for everyone else.

I still get pumped to play, love the music by Sakimoto and the missions and story is still fun. Love my team a lot, glad to be playing with them and with you guys.

If you need to get Exp just play the skirmish mission "Outskirts of Bruhl" easy mission for new people.

Whew, blasted through that pretty quick. Managed to get A on all, but had to replay the third level because Welkin missed the reactor.

My favorite parts so far:
I'm having a lot of fun. I forgot how much I miss this game. Absolutely amazing music, visuals, gameplay, and storytelling. It makes me sad however, that we lost this saga and Sega will never bring it back to us again. Honestly it's a darn shame.

For those who haven't play VC before and think that these first couple of missions were easy...*Chuckle...* I suggest you grind for EXP for a while...You'll need it...

Heh we at the end, hope everyone has funny battle and picking out their the too. Just remember to play the "Outskirts of Bruhl" skirmish a few times, if you are good it shouldn't take more than 2 turns.
