Obama ad on Xbox Live Dashboard

On the Dashboard, if you go to Home and look in the most bottom right square, there's an Obama campaign ad. Why are there political ads on Xbox Live now? That just seems way off topic and unnecessary. At least also have a Romney ad on there too to be fair, otherwise MS is shoving liberal bias down our throats on a GAMING NETWORK. People of all political affiliations should agree that this is appalling. Politics don't belong on Xbox Live.

The easy solution is to just ignore it and move on.

Simply put? Money. Lots of it. It can buy anything. Good thing I never play Xbox anymore ^_^ Also, nothing is without bias, so don't look for it.

Not seeing the issue. If Romney wanted his own ad on there he could do it without any issues. He probably just doesn't care about that market and didn't pay money to get an ad on the dashboard.

It's not like Microsoft denies non-liberal ads or anything.

Probably because voter turnout within the youth culture is abysmal, and most people who are console jockeys are unreachable through traditional means. Basically what I am saying is Obama's platform should appeal to youth, but youth are mostly happily unaware of the political climate or simply don't care, so they're just trying to cultivate more interest. Seriously what is wrong with that?

Ads for anything can go anywhere. If this was a discussion about ads being on the dashboard in the first place, that might be different, but if the Obama campaign want an ad in an ad space then they can buy it. What does it matter? What difference does it make having an ad on Xbox compared to on TV? I am struggling to see the issue here, and I am far from being "appalled". Undecided

I don't know what he is accomplishing anyways, considering 75% of xBox LIVE is populated by minors, so they can't vote anyway.

Yeah I don't think that's the correct statistic, and what are they accomplishing? They're changing the traditional face of interacting with your government. Our world is changing rapidly and traditional means of politics will not suit it forever.

Check this out, pretty good turnout if you ask me! The xbox360 and potentially any other console is much more than a mere toy.
