yeah, this looks awesome!
Never knew much about the original Neo-Geo AES back when it was out, but I can understand why it was so expensive, and why it wasn't very successful. (capability being reason for high price, and high price being it's downfall).
I very much like the idea of this new Neo-Geo system. It's a console and a handheld in 1, it plays all these old Neo-Geo games, and it sounds like they plan to release more games as it goes on. this is so gonna be worth the $200 price tag ^_^ especially if the system is made to the same standards that SNK had when building it's past systems Smile

Agreed, I hope the hardware is on point. Back in the day, just about all the Neo Geo consoles suffered ridiculously long load times and they burnt out fast due to the dated choices in parts and components. Here's hoping that this bad boy outlasts its predecessors.

I am actually very excited for this.

The ONLY thing that is stopping me from placing a pre-order is that $200 price tag.

I mean seriously!!! for a console that will play games 15 - 20 years old, it is going to cost $200..

ahh, but it's 20 15-20 year old games built in, with the ability to expand with more games down the road (given that fact, that hopefully means some new games for it as well)

::EDIT:: not to mention that these aren't just like some generic games you'd find in those stupid little 100 in 1 toys that are basically 5 games each with 20 different modes @_@
These are 90s era arcade quality games! ARCADE QUALITY! and all from one of the best in arcade. in fact, many of the games built into this machine would sell anywhere from $100 to $1000 these days. Not to mention the original system itself, which is also fairly pricy

Not only that you also get a handheld AND a joystick too in one package, and such equipment usually runs $200 a piece. But to get it all for just 200 smackers, it's a steal of a deal.

I see what you mean... But I can get a gameboy, with over 50 games for like $50 at any garage sale... I dont wanna pay like $150 for a joystick, and games I can find on the internet easily.

If they are gonna put those games in there, I want a game manual for EACH game. THEN it will be worth it.

ok, lets look at pricing online for the system and each game if you were to buy them in their original AES format (I didn't find all the games, and some were not AES, but just to give you the idea of what your getting)

Neo Geo AES: 299.99
3 Count Bout: 99.97
League Bowling: 99.97
Art of Fighting 2: 124.97
Magician Lord: 89.97
Alpha Mission 2: 139.97
Metal Slug: 50 (MVS, could not find AES version)
Baseball Stars 2: 62.99
Mutation Nation: 237.90
Fatal Fury: 59.97
Nam 1975: 59.97
Fatal Fury Special: 159.97
Puzzled: 139.97
The King of Fighters '95: 2299.97
Samurai Shodown 2: 64
Super Sidekicks: 69.93
World Heroes Perfect: 119.97

now with that info in and of itself, I came up with a total of: 4179.48
you do the math Tongue

Thoses prices are not that much value to the average person you know. It's more of what a collector would pay for. The price is very steep for games that can pretty much download for free on the net. I would think $100 is a better option for people to even consider thinking about it. I'm just going to stick with the SNK arcade classics on PSP which i only payed $13 bucks and has a better selection of games.
