It feels like just yesterday that Activision signed a publishing deal with Bungie. A freelance, but primarily Xbox developer signs with a multiplatform publisher. Nobody seen it coming.

Today, EA signed a publishing deal for Insomniac games' new multiplatform IP. I kid you not. A independent, but a Sony developer signs with a multiplatform publisher. Anybody see the similarities?

I see the similarities but we all have to remember that Activision is the enemy now and will milk any franchise it can get its grubby little hands on. EA will hopefully do a much better job handling whatever new IP Insomniac decides to make.
I'm just waiting for the fanboy rants to emerge, it won't take long

A brand new IP and R3 on the way, sounds like a good deal to me. Somehow the fanboy in me isn't rattled at all, maybe it's because Insomniac always delivers a quality experience and has a good reputation unlike another company that shall remain nameless, hehe. I say it bring it on, I can't wait to hear more about this new IP and R3!

I think R3 will probably stay exclusive to PS3, but I am interested to see what Insomniac decide to bring to the table, multi-platform-wise.

This was rumoured quite a few weeks back. In fact, I believe the only reason that Insomniac weren't multi-plat already was because they knew that the Ratchet / Resistance cycle worked on the PS3.
They have just been saving up enough money to make multi-plat games.
Also, if you look at the sales of the latest Ratchet title ... Well =S
I look forward to what they come up with =]

Which is curious considering it was one of the higher reviewed Ratchet's to come out recently. I have A Crack in Time, although I never completed it.
