Quote:A source reported to Edge Online this week many new pieces of information regarding the next Xbox. Some of the biggest highlights were the fact that you would always need to be online to play any game. Games will also ship with no only a disc, but an activation code, making that copy only work on your system.

if these rumors are true, then this Xbox might end up being a BIG financial loss, not everyone has an internet connection, some people just buy the console because they just play single-player games, add this to the fact that you have to pay to play online ( in the Xbox360 case anyway). There is also the issue that if we are having internet problems, then we won't be able to play games at all. I'm also kind of curious about that activation code, if for some reason our system breaks,or something like that, and we need to replace it, that would mean the games won't work on the new system...

I think there are two things that would annoy many gamers: inability to trade and play used games and constant internet connection.

I can live with constant internet connection since I live in a wealthy developed country but there are amny many people in the world where internet is expensive etc.

I understand wanting to maximize profits by stopping used game sales, but some kids and parents can only afford used games. Also, the internet issue will prevent me from buying one.

This isn't really a wise choice, even PC games can be played offline so I don't see a point in doing this. We are not at that point where we can have a device that can only be access online all that time, I know Microsoft has Xbox Live but there is such thing of being too live(like not all the time 24/7).
