In the March issue of Game Informer, some interesting new details regarding Rockstar North's mysterious game were revealed. But one thing in particular stood out:
Quote:Things get a little more interesting in regards to the interview system. Team Bondi is using revolutionary technology that could change the way games are made. The new facial motion capturing system sets actors alone in a giant room with cameras all around. In full make-up, the actor delivers their dialogue. Every facial moment is recorded, from the most exaggerate of motions to the slightest twitch of an eye. The dialogue is recorded at this time as well, creating a seamless scene. All of this is then translated into a 3D game landscape with no animators needed. The result? According to GI, it's a picture-perfect rendering of the actor's scene.

I don't know about you guys, but that sounds amazing to me, and I really cant wait to see some footage. What do all of you think?

Interesting, seems like less work. This game looks interesting, I'm quite curious about the story.

Sounds amazing. I just hope games that try something new like this and Heavy Rain start to sell more. L.A. Noir looks like it could push games in a new direction but people never seem to buy them . I hope it works and we get a new game with a new style.

It's an interesting piece of news, but obviously they're not going to use this technique for every game made, because it sounds pretty expensive/time consuming (voice actors also are not necessarily actors).

Still, I'd love to see how this actually turns out in CG.

That's a good point, and obviously money isn't a factor coming from Rockstar North haha. But yeah, I can't wait to see it in action.
