Whilst I highly dislike all the hype over HD, I understand how it has become successful. HD in some ways does look better, though falls short in some mediums. but this isn't about HD at this point, this is about 3D. 3-dimensional television, 3-dimensional gaming, 3-dimensional movies..... its bound to fail, because 3D is just a fad, and as a fad, it comes ad goes constantly. In a couple of years from now, people won't be going to the theater to see movies in 3D because companies won't be making them in 3D. And the companies won't be making movies in 3D because people will be tired of 3D. To throw 3D into an everyday aspect becomes rather dangerous, because of all the health risks involved with what 3D entails.

3D movies nowadays don't even look good!
I don't think anyone films in 3D the classic way.
For comparison, go to Disneyland. Watch Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. Amazing, right?
Then go watch Alice in Wonderland.
There's a huge difference. I think that's because Alice was filmed in 2D but converted to 3D by an external company.
It's like what they did with Clash of the Titans.
Converted 3D films do not look half as good as movies shot with two cameras simultaneously.

lol only good thing about 3D tvs coming out is that HD tvs prices go down. I mean if you have to wear glasses for the 3D experience, that would really fuzzle your eyes and brain because people these days watch a load of tv everyday. Sweet 400th post

I feel this is going to be a fad plus think of the headaches you will have and Avatar in 3D was really not that good.

True, I know someone who's blind in one eye and that automatically disables him from watching 3D.

But anyways, until HDTVs become something like a standard instead of a superior, I don't think 3DTVs will be household for at least another 2-3 years. How many movies besides Avatar were hugely successful because of its 3D featuring?

Also, I heard the 3D-ing of the eyes is really bad for you.

Even though I hate 3D (and I dislike HD), I don't think 3D will be a fad. It's gotten way to big for it's own good. Whether or not you guys like 3D, it's here to stay.

umm.. you do realize its gotten this big several times in the past. It's been on and off since the 50's, and 3D glasses even once became fashion. I foresee it going again at least 1 or 2 more times before it's here to stay

And do you realise that Avatar has pushed 3D beyond the point of a simple fad? There's no going back.
