I think it is much like the Disney movies themselves. On the outside it appears to be a simple and innocent adventure for children, but the creators have made something that an older audience will appreciate, as well.

Look at the classic Disney films from our childhood, there was The Lion King, which had fantastic musical sequences, and even fart jokes for the kids, but when dissected further you notice that the entire thing is just Hamlet with lions! I think Nomura and his team wanted the game to be similar to these fantastic films in a way that lets the audience appreciate them even more as they age.

It is just like the rating says, its rated E for everyone. Tongue

it depends on how the person who is playing it thinks. in my opinion this game should be played by age 13 and up. the plot is more deep than you think and it gets complicated at first. people believe this is just another kiddy game with disney so they don't give it a try but this game is actually deep with a great story line.

so no this game was made for teens. don't judge the game just because of the disney, disney actually makes the plot better.

I'm 14 now and i feel that this game was always made for the older crowd because children now are like "who's: Tron, Ariel, Simba...?" All of these characters are from movies the newer generation don't know. When it came out i was like 7 and i had been playing video games for like 3 years so i understood the plot and game mechanics. The thing is the first Kingdom Hearts was HARD Sad

Yeah looking at the spoilers of Birth by Sleep it looks like a much darker game than previous titles. This is pointing towards the series growing up with the fans.

I start the game just right before this year I'm 14 and adicted. I think since it actually has some kind of plot it would be good for practically anybody.

I was 12 when I got into KH. Big Grin And it was the year I also received my PS2, and FFX. I felt that FFX was about storyline (as I did pay attention and understand it) but to me, KH felt purely as a game that I can just play for fun. Of course, even as a 12 yr old, I did pay attention to the story of KH. While, not too deep, I thought it was interesting. I grew a bit, and when I was i think 16 or 17 (can't quite remember) I bought FF12. Now, that was a deep story, no matter how I look at it. It was complicated. It drew away from the romance, and simple things, and grew into a political story. Good and all, but I still prefered KH, for whatever reasons.
The more I think of it, I do say, yes it's for kids, but at the same time, those with developed minds will be able to appreciate the game more, because, not only is the gameplay fun and addictive, the storyline is, while designed to appeal to kids, it does have it's serious moments, that only the older can truly appreciate.

That KH is mainly focused on teenagers willing to get back into a disney-related world, yet having it way more mature. The storyline for KH is really confusing unless you can connect the dots between the games. At first I had NO IDEA that Sora is asleep from the end of KHCOM to the beginning of KH2. I always thought that in 358/2 Days Sora was still awake and he just falls asleep during KH2 (I never played KHCOM or KH2.)
