Oh well, it's a game, not a soundtrack so let's not worry about it too much

Yes i did think it was a quote Omen, when you put this in your post i'm led to believe it's a quote, a bit like the one i've taken from your post ^^ xD

Quote from Omen's Official Blog:

WARNING: Not a real quote xD

Caleb Wrote:hahahah that IS Mario, thats just downright embarrassing. Did she happen to mention collecting stars that made your character flash?...its not that I have something against her as a person its just I don't think that song fits with FF-XIII.

As long as its only in the credits I don't mind as much.

"I wake in the morning
Tired of sleeping
Get in the shower
And my make my bed alone
I put on my make up
Talk into the mirror
Ready for a new day, Without you
And i walk steady on my feet
I talk my voice obeys me ".

What does that have to do with FFXIII? at all xD?

Personally im pretty fond of the song myself, its the verses I have the problem with, the bridge and chorus are fine, and if you look at the meaning behind the song, you may find it does actually fit with the theme of the game pretty well, even if it wasn't originally made for it.

The extract you pointed out is pretty much what the character of Lightning must be feeling, taking it literally then no, lightning doesn't wear make up but symbolically i take make up to be the 'Mask' that lightning is forced to wear to protect herself, the whole talking into her mirror is her way of trying to tell herself that she can do this without with Serah, 'Tired of sleeping' means to me that she is fed up of going through the motions and just wants it to be the way it used to, which from littles bits of the game we have actually seen, this is pretty much what sh is feeling. But this is just my opinion obv Smile

Give it a rest guys- it's one song and seeing as no-one knows all the plot for the game you can't say the song won't fit the game. Even if it doesn't suit it who cares? Sure you may be slightly disappointed but as long as the overall game remains as good as previous FF what does it really matter if one song is crap?

I'm still just confused. ^_^

Don't get me wrong, Leona Lewis is talented at what she does, but this kinda came out of left field.

I agree with Daryl's article titled Square Enix has Destroyed the Final Fantasy Tradition. I think this is a dumb idea by Square to try and help FF13 sell in the west. Why do they feel the need to use cheap methods when they already know it's gonna sell well here? They could've at least got a song that kinda fits the game, but that would be too much to ask wouldnt it.

A lot over the past six months I've been really starting to wonder if I'm gonna buy FF13. I might buy it used later on, but only so Square doesn't get my money. As much as I love the FF series, it kills me to watch it fall to new lows without any signs of real appeal. I realize this is taking it to the extremes, but even Japanese developers are saying that their industry is falling to western developers- I now agree.

Bash me if you want, but the (in my opinion) overhype for this game is turning me off.

^^ Well, to be honest, I know its your opinion and all but I think you're being a bit harsh there. I don't like this decision any more than you, but just think about what you have just said - Final Fantasy XIII is "without any signs of real appeal". Do you truly believe there is nothing appealing about it?! Not even the stunning HD visuals, the deep story and characters or the intriguing gameplay?

I finally registered just to post on this topic...

While I do understand SE's move from a business standpoint, the fact that we are losing the original composition made FOR the game by the game's composer is preposterous. Think about it. All of the theme songs in Final Fantasy games before this have been originals made for the game. Because of this the songs had a lot of resonance and meaning with the entire game itself. A great example of this is Suteki Da Ne in FFX. If you play that game and listen to the entire soundtrack, you see that at least half of the songs on the game are greatly influenced by the main theme, Suteki Da Ne. Because of this connection, we can see the game's music as being entirely connected as a whole and the song carries a lot more meaning.

Bleh, I guess I'll have to wait and see in order to make the final verdict.

Great post, and congrats on registering.
I honestly agree, while I think Leona can sing, I would much rather prefer to play the game as it was intended to by it's designers, as you have said songs that were written directly for the game will fit in much better. I can see why they have done this, but in no way do I agree with their methods.
Just out of interest, has anyone signed the petition? (Although I don't think it will will work)

After completing FFX, even Chuck Norris bowed to Auron's epicness.

You are referring to motifs. Also, you're getting confused with the theme song and main theme. The main theme of X was not Suteki da ne, it was To Zanarkand. Suteki da ne was just the theme song, even though it was heavily developed, more so than To Zanarkand.

A lot of the theme songs in Final Fantasy had motifs in the game itself, but FFXII was the first time that the theme song did not have any motifs throughout the game. To me, it seems that neither versions of FFXIII will have motifs from the theme songs. Otherwise, I can't see why they would choose a random song to be in the Western version of the game. I dunno, but I'm speculating that Kimi ga iru kara won't have any motifs, either.

On a totally different note... Big Grin

How many people still think that Uematsu composed Kimi ga iru kara? I've been looking through the net and a lot of people still think he's involved with XIII; he isn't. Last I read, he opted out of the theme song to focus solely on FFXIV.
