Well, with Royal Mail going on strike, it is unlikely I'll be getting Scribblenaughts, Uncharted 2 etc on time, as well as my rentals from lovefilm (who have already emailed saying to expect large delays) and the like.
They have already lost a massive ( £25million+) contract with Amazon.co.uk ,their 2nd biggest customer, who are now going to HDN (It must be pretty bad).

I've never really had problems with Royal mail but seriously what are they playing it? They are doing a lot of damage to themselves by losing that contract and going on strike.
Because it is Royal Mail though, expect to have a bail out from tax payers in the coming months if they do go down.

I'm sure the people who were made redundant over the past few months would be glad to have the work, so I don't see why the CWU has the right to complain about pay.

My games aren't that important really (in the scale of things). I'm just annoyed by the union who is doing this.
I like royal mail. They have a really good service and it's quite cheap compared to couriers.
I'm just annoyed by the fact that the union is trying to get more pay, in this current financial climate, and is basically pulling the company down.
I'm going to be more reluctant to buy from Amazon now, because I have had a few bad experiences with HDN too.
What are they playing at?

Well since i am a postman and have more knowledge than any of you over this matter it is indeed the fault of the CWU and not Royal Mail.
You should recieve Scribblenauts and Uncharted 2 on time unless you have become victim to an unofficial strike, CWU has not issued an official strike yet.
The CWU is NOT after more wages, they are in fact pi***d off with Royal Mail making changes to 'modernise' the business, 'Modernising' meaning letting go of some employees and letting the rest of us take the slack. I can see why the CWU has decided to take action but as you have already mentioned they are shooting themselves in the foot.
The thing is, Postmen are actually well paid for the job that we do, the CWU in our office's case are trying to hold on to the easy job we used to have 2-3 years ago. Sadly this is not going to happen, one thing i want to make clear to all who read this though is that when Royal Mail say they are losing business and volumes of mail are going down THEY ARE LYING.
Volumes of mail have increased and due to this our jobs are getting harder, have you noticed your postmen delivering later and later?
The CWU are saying that Royal Mail bosses are letting the job go to s**t because they are doing a poor job of managing the company, this is true
However the CWU are also doing a poor job of solving this issue, a strike is going to kill the business, Amazon have left and other customers are looking elsewhere
An official strike will only work with the backing of the public and this time that is not happening, if you are reading this send a letter to CWU to tell them how stupid they are

I have actually noticed the postman getting later and later. Normally post would be delivered before 9:30 am now we get post at around 12:30-1:30 pm ... and he is driving a large van now, when he usually just walked or cycled.

But yeah, I don't agree with the way the union is handling this issue, but again, I don't know how else they can get their voices heard, whether on not I agree with them or not.

The CWU doesn't need to get their voices heard, if they did it would sound like this ''3 years ago we were paid to work till 1:30PM but we usually finished at 10:00AM - 11:00AM, now we are paid to 2:30PM and we have to stay until that time, it's an outrage!!''

Royal Mail asks us to work to our full time which is fair enough, anything past our working hours is by choice. CWU claims that Royal Mail is making us work harder which is bulls**t.

There is more mail that's for sure but the vast majority of us get finished on time, if we don't, we get paid overtime or we can choose not to finish our round which means someone else will have to finish it.

Very rarely do we not clear the office for all the mail to go out, the problem is, every office in the country is different and if the mail centres (big offices that sort huge areas for smaller offices) go on strike then the rest of us suffer because of the backlog of mail meaning heavy days and delayed items.

In my honest opinion the whole strike is ludicrous, half of my office don't even know why we're going on strike and the only people who voted 'yes' to the strike are the lasy b****rds who wait for the 'real' postmen to sort their letters. The CWU is promoting laziness in the workplace and i'm sick of it
