Famitsu has released new details regarding Dissidia Duodecim, supporting the recently revealed Laguna Loire and providing even more details on the game's world map which was recently discussed in Jump magazine.

First up, Famitsu talks about Laguna Loire from Final Fantasy VIII. His character is a tactical fighter type and battle director Takeo Kujiraoka refers to his style of combat as "tricky attacks." Players will have to outsmart their opponents by fighting strategically, such as attacking from behind.

Laguna has various forms of attacks at his disposal and by holding down the attack button, players can switch its properties. Rifles will fire at a fully-automatic rate while his shotgun deals more damage by firing a scattershot. Kujiraoka says the controls feel a lot like a third person shooter.

Laguna's HP attacks are based on the Ragnorok airship while his EX Burst is based on his Desperado limit break from Final Fantasy VIII. Famitsu also shows his Another Form, which is his soldier outfit from when he was a Galbadian soldier.

As for the world map, Famitsu has scans showing the party traversing through an over world. The magazine also confirms that the new world map will be replacing the original Dissidia's chess-like story progression board. Players will experience the story through scenarios that occur in the over world.

"The setting is 'a world that once had towns,' so there are no towns," said story planner Shouta Shimoda, explaining that Duodecim is set in a dystopian world overrun by Imitations and other such unpleasantries of Chaos.

He goes on to explain that the story mode is party based. Players will get to select their party and in some cases, it'll be pre-selected depending on the scenario. Shimoda says it's similar to Final Fantasy VI.

Famitsu also says that a new trailer for the game will be released this weekend at Jump Festa.

Biggest highlight for me Big Grin

I only hope the story is a bump (or several) up from the original.

So they're making this less and less like the original Dissidia?
They're trying to win me back over with puppy dog eyes: "I CAN CHANGE"

No Dissidia. You are not fooling me.
I will not buy you.

I may, however, rent you.

Damnit! You're winning!

I liked Dissidia for the fighting and abilities as the story was very easy to overlook. The game is looking better than the first with all these announcements so I'll prolly pick it up soon after release.

I'm flipping out here. I think this is the first game where I've really thought, "I REALLY CAN'T CONTAIN MY EXCITEMENT!" I mean, this is technically the first FF game I've ever played. Perfect for me since I love fighting games and RPGs and now it's getting a freaking awesome sequel. I think I need to go calm down....

I'm actually getting really excited for this. It seems like the addition of a world map and possibly an actual story may could this interesting. Hopefully it won't be as disappointing and shallow as Dissidia was for me.

Dissidia is pretty much fanservice [at its best, might I add!], so any additions are good additions for me! :3

I wonder how the world map is going to work what with there being no towns o_o;

I'm at least glad that they got rid of the chessboard, that was one of the more annoying aspects of the story besides the story itself.

The only thing I'm worried about with the world map is the random encounters against those 'Imitations'. Oh, how I hate random encounters... >__<
