After listening to the IGN beyond (BEYOND!! ) podcast. IGN seem to believe that GT5 could be released the end of this year. Also they think it will be bundled up with the new PS3 Slim. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6CCOTz327s (I think it looks so ugly it might be real)

Thanks to an excellent new interview with Kazunori Yamauchi, we’ve just learned a lot about the progress of Gran Turismo 5 - and it sounds like it is further along than anyone may have imagined. When asked about “how development’s going”, Yamauchi-san responded:

“I want to release it as fast as I can, but GT5 for us, when you talk about its status, it’s at a point we can release it any time we want, but we can always keep working on it. It’s very important for us to make sure everything is done perfectly and everything is done in detail.”

After just one brief paragraph, GT5 suddenly seems closer than ever before, implying that the major features have already been implemented.

Anyway, this is all speculation, but I have a feeling it might just be right.
This would mean that you could play GT PSP a few months before GT5 and the transfer your data across onto your PS3. They would coexist very well as GT PSP has an october release date.

As much as I would like for this to be true, I am a bit skeptical and for good reason. With all these PS3 Slim rumors floating around as of late, something like this seems like it might just be another one that will turn out to be nothing. What I really want is an official announcement from Sony regarding the PS3 Slim, but until that happens I take all of these things with a grain of salt.

For instance, a little while back people also thought that Madden 10 was going to be bundled with the PS3 Slim, but we haven't had any sort of announcement about something like that.

I already have a PS3, If the PS3 slim has no other features other than being thinner i don't see the point in fussing over it. I've already spent enough money on that system to just go out and 'upgrade' it

As for GT 5, I'm going to wait for an official announcement for sure, because I dont want to get my hopes up too early. I mean, even if it was officially anounced I might be sceptical, because Polyphony often push the release dates back because they have found something else to improve. I mean, look at GT PSP. "Gran Turismo 4 Mobile" was supposed to be a release title for the original PSP. Now, nigh-on 5 years later, they're releasing it as "GT PSP". They are let-off for this (at least from my point of view) because the games always turn out as close to perfect as is possible. So unless they pin it down to a single day, like "1st October", I'll just put it out of my mind.

This would be a pretty solid move by Sony, especially in Europe. Gran Turismo 5 is going to sell millions over here, and that's guaranteed.

Too true, GT 5: Prologue is the best selling PS3 game so far, and that's not even a full game. I know its got God of War and Final Fantasy to contend with, but GT 5 is certainly looking to be possibly the best selling PS3 game of all time. Not to mention GT PSP which should sell millions as well.

Yeah if sony did bring this out as a bundle even with the normal PS3 at christmas they could make a mint. While I don't particularly like racing games myself I've no doubt this will fly off the shelves and almost certainly outsell FF13 and GoW as it has a bigger fan base and a wider appeal.

The original Gran Turismo is the best selling PS1 game of all time (10.85m copies)
Final Fantasy VII comes in 2nd (9.8m copies)
Gran Turismo 2, 3rd (9.37m copies)
and Final Fantasy VIII comes in 8th (6m copies)

On PS2, Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec is 2nd only to GTA; San Andreas, (GT sold 9.53m copies)
6th and 7th are Final Fantasy X and XII respectively (6.6m and 5.2m copies)

PS3, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is holding the top spot along with Motorstorm (3.31m copies each)

And on PSP, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is currently 3rd (2.59m copies)

Just thought the facts would be helpful.
