If the ps3 even lasts 12 years which i highly doubt, that is some AWESOME warranty!!!

Thats why it's cool, if it broke tommorow I'd get it fixed, but if it doesn't break by the time sony has released it's new console I'm just going to wrap it in some towels and play until it fries. "Hey, I think my PS3 overheated? Oh you have to give me a PS4, shi... Ok I guess that will have to work" Smile

Not to mention, everytime I break a controller or the battery dies I can get a new one.

You are a genius lol!! Hopefully the next PS console will cost over $1000 so you can get your moneys worth and Sony don't downscale xD

After completing FFX, even Chuck Norris bowed to Auron's epicness.

I actually can't help but think that the ps4 is going to be worth that much now, that's a crazy price tag ;p

Wrapping a console in a towel and over-heating it is part of the problem as to why the 360's failure rate is so high, once that warranty was extended everyone was doing it. All adds to the problem and then people blame the 360 for such a high failure rate, well done.

Sanrin Wrote:Microsoft 'fixing their fuckup' would be designing a console that doesn't have a 50% failure rate.

They have, you just don't see it because your too busy looking at polls that don't prove they have or haven't. As i said, 360s that are released today could have a failure rate of 2% and you'd still be focused on the 50% failure rate that the first generation 360s had.
Here's an example:
Apple releases the iPad, 80% have connection problems and are re-called to be fixed, 6 months later a newer version is released and works fine, they have a 5% failure rate but because of the ones before you would hold the 80% failure rate against them.
Technology is always being improved and updated and yes, Microsoft were stupid for releasing a faulty console but they have been improved and without proof, stop using that arguement.

I think service plans should be better, last a little longer, and cost less in general. Microsoft doesn't cover the performance of your unit, and they just cover 3 red lights for three years, everything else is 1 year. If they were accountable for their product, and the wellbeing of their customers they would have reduced the margin in their console and put more reliable parts in it.

Spanning anywhere from 3-6 years in length, plans cost 50-90$. Buy the whole unit on a mastercard or visa with the plan and the credit card company will double the length of your service contract. Sweet, now I have twelve years on a PS3 with a contract that gaurentees upgrade replacement. Somebody is getting a free PS4 in the future.

It's hardly a fairtale experiance love! Me and 2 friends have had it and my BF, a courier came to pick it up in both cases from our homes, we had to pack the xbox obviously, once fixed it was hand delivered to our doors, with a months free of xbox live in each box with a working console.

Mine failed almost 2 years ago now and since now problems! And everyone else I know whos consoles have been fixed have no problems with it!

So its hardly a fairytale experiance, its 4 real life experiances. I must add im in the UK so cannot comment how microsoft deal with thier repairs in the US! But here, they bloody awesome!

Also the consumer laws in the UK are very different, any electronic device must lasts up to 6 years from the day of purchase, as long as the device was properly looked after.
So basically if your console fails, and it wasnt accidently or neglect, the laws states they have to fix or repair the consoles, so these little careplans you love so much are a TOTAL waste of money in the UK.

And I do think your living in a fairytale if you think your coverplan means you will get a PS4 if your PS3 breaks when the time comes! If you read the small print it usually states they will repair the console, if this cant be done it will be replaced, if no replacement is available they will give money or a voucher to the same amount of the original purchase, so with inflation it isnt going to be massive.

Then perhaps this is an issue with region, because North America doesn't have as many laws to protect electronics consumers. If it breaks, you're generally SOL for a few weeks. Its why most companies have made such great product replacement plans. Also considering the replacement plan Kioran's discussed is a service provided by the company she works for, and it's her job to understand how the plan is used/exploited for the companies profit/loss, I think she knows what she's talking about when it comes to fine print. A lot of people buy the plan on laptops and iphones, only to have them break so they swap up to the next model (a few hundred dollars more then the model they purchased).

The result? Those 'little careplans' save people a LOT of grief in North America, and for a few extra bucks you wind up saving yourself a lot of time and headache waiting for a refurb. The cost is completely justified.

Also, I like how you're disregarding polls Keith, in addition to people who work in retail and explain that half (if not more) of xbox's purcahsed get returned. We're giving you proof. How many people do you want to be in a survey before you believe it? How many people who work in retail, explaining to you return rates, will it take?

http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/surv...360s-fail/

I guess that's the most recent one? 500,000 people enough? Or are there more people out there living under rocks with perfectly fine consoles who've yet to jump out waving banners in Microsoft's defense. The technology for the 360 hasn't gotten any better, if anything they only change they've made is to the disc tray and that was because they found a cheaper but better option to swap out. Don't get me wrong, I love the xbox, it's my console of choice. But compared to the PS3 it's a technological piece of shit. Poorly made because quite frankly, Microsoft knows it'll just make more money churning out a crappier product and offering a quick fix replacement should things turn the wrong way.

That is a quote from the article you just showed me Sanrin, proving once again you fail to see my point.

So then, explain your point clearly.

Xbox 360s that were first put in production had a 50% failure rate (so you say), the later 360s with the new Jasper chipset have a failure rate of less than that. We don't know what the failure rate of these new 360s are because there is no poll out there that acts as proof.
You with me so far?
360s no longer have a failure rate of 50%, that is why i keep ignoring your faulty 'proof' (the poll you keep quoting)
