Facing Seymour Flux for the first time in FFX. I was almost close to defeating him, but then at the last minute, he used Total Annihilation and instantly killed my party. I was with my friend at the time and we started to freak out when Seymour used it.

Off the top of my head, my craziest moment in gaming was in Ultima Online before it was gear based. I was in a role playing guild as a militia general. The RP guilds had enacted a territorial project and a neighboring guild with it's oversized alliance wanted some of our land. We knew going into it that we would be slaughtered. We had only 5 people on at the time and they had a strong 50. Well I decided outright when we got to the location that I'd just take out their leader at least.

When the call was made to start the battle, I rushed after their leader. He noticed I was targeting him and ran. I ended up chasing him way off into the distance and took him out. I was quite frankly shocked that I was still alive as the animation for some 10 or so spells finally caught up to me. All I could figure was that there was so many spells casted that they glitched. Thanks to that glitch, I was able to live and continue an assault.

Well, I preceded to take out about 10 stragglers for quite a while until people started getting fed up with me. I was a magic user with Hiding skill, so I was quite good at picking people off. They sent out a crew with a person able to detect hiding (a shock!) and due to keeping RP politics (people were fussing out of character that I was 'dragging it out') I let them take me out.

Suffice to say, I managed to turn an obvious slaughter fest into a game of cat and mouse-with-a-machinegun. Taking out so many, including a leader, was quite satisfying. Ah UO, was such a fun game before itemization killed it.
