I am absolutely sure that the PSP will have a successor. If it does, hopefully it wil have dual-analogue and an awesomely high-resolution screen. Unfortunately, apart from these two things, in Sony's eyes, the PSP is still the best it could possibly be. It is pretty close to being mini PS3.
So, I can't see Sony coming up with PSP2 any time soon.

honestly i think that it will come sooner then most people think. i think that they will talk about it at e3 if not show a concept of it to he public.

my guess for a release date is winter 09 - summer of 2010.

I dont know I think its just a rumor. They may announce another PSP model but I dont feel that anytime soon they will have a true psp sequel. It might be more like a DSI version of PSP.

I am going to guess 2011 for the new PSP but the main issue here is Sony concentrating on getting developers to make games for the system^^^

I have a NDSi and have to admit that is sweeter then the PSP because I can always find something that I want to play on it. Even if it's just Warioware. Very sad because I look at my PSP everyday and think about how much better the system would have been with the proper games...

I wouldn't be surprised if they put out a PSP-4000 that had a bunch of changes and required new accessories.

I mean, they did it with the PSP-3000 when the PSP-2000 had came out not that long before it, so I wouldn't put it past them.

I don't think we'll be seeing it for at least another two years. Sony have just started to release there is still a lot of "gas" left in the PSP's tank. They've only just started to support it, and I think they will push on from here to try and get as much out of it as possible.

The PS2 lasted 5 years (I think) before the PS3 came out. It has been 5 years now for the PSP.

OK, I was thinking it was November '01 that the PS2 was out. Still that is only one more year. And portable consoles are often different in lifespan too.
