What do you mean the VI crowd? I see no VI fans that say that VII sucks? in fact, I hardly see any VI fans as it is? I don't see why though, seeing as it was perhaps the best of the series

That being said, my favorite is 7, followed by 1, 5, 9, 3, 6, 2, 4, 8, 10, Crystal Chronicles, Dissidia Duodecim, Dissidia, Tactics, 12, 13, CC, DoC, Tactics Advance, X-2, and Mystic Quest (that's only counting games that I have played, and not the complete spinoffs)

O sorry about that zero. And about the vi fans, they think vii copied some things about vi and became 10 times better for no reason. (or so they think)

I personally recommend FFX, FFXIII, or dare I say it, FFX-2. This is if you're looking for a compelling story, and a decent (debatable for the latter title) battle system.

Ah thank you kindly, Zero. Tongue

Yep, it is part of the Forum Rules not to make duplicate threads terranort. A simple search would have brought the aforementioned thread up, which you could have used to answer your question or revived if you had a relevant comment. Try to do this in future please. Smile

Cool thread..

FF-VI for-the-win... if you haven't played it, do so.. GOOD STUFF...
Runner up is FF-VII... just bought it on PSN.. I get sucked into game and can't stop playing it.. My wife doesn't know who I am anymore. LOL, my son seems pretty intrigued though.
Good... Good...

Both games excel in character development, story telling, and epic villains. But no only that.. you can do it your way.

but I'm a bit biased since I haven't spent a great deal of time (if any) on the VIII, IX, etc.etc.. I like to think of myself as a gamer but i've got little time... so I'll take your word on them..

LOL, isn't that how it always starts. My nephew at age 11 got intrigued watching me play FF7 as well Big Grin now, at almost 13 years old, he considers himself a huge fan of the series

9 for me as well.
Loved the music, the setting, the characters, and the plot was pretty solid.
Vivi + Steiner = comedic genius. I thought the game was one of the funniest in the series in general. Every character contributed something to the games humor.
I actually cared about each character too. They all had good stories (except maybe Quina and Amarant) and they each contributed a unique perspective on the overall story.
I loved that I could have 4 people in my party and that the game basically used a job system. I'd rather have distinct classes that are preset like black mage and ravager than free form characters like in 12, 7 and 8.
Kuja wasn't the best villain in the series but he definitely brought a sufficient amount of crazy to the table.
Also, the card game was decent and the chocobo sidequest and mognet were both great additions to the game.

My Favourite FF would have to be the most controversial one of recent years...XIII

There's only one reason why and it's the same reason that everyone hates the game...because it's linear and doesn't stray me away from the story (unlike XII) with the ridiculous notion of side quests...seriously I don't want to have to waste my time on them and even that being said I really don't think I'd want to revisit past locations if I'm into the story, and the one thing I hate most about RPGs are the NPC hunts (where you have to wonder ALL over town and keep talking to every NPC you find until you find the right one in order to advance the story) and XIII barely had that (if you include the snow flashback with Sarah in chapter 5-6 of the story)

So yeah...in my mind XIII-2 Is probably gonna be worse than XIII because of everyone complaining about the linearity in XIII, and now I'm probably gonna bet that they won't have another game like XIII again so I'm just gonna have to treasure this one

My all time favorite is easily Final Fantasy 6. Even though I had played it after 1 and 4, it was the first one that made me fall in love with the series. The sheer amount of content, plot, character development, and gameplay was top notch. There just wasn't a better game out there in the SNES age or before.

The music scores were some of my favorite, especially Terra's theme(world map). It was one of the few games I built my characters to max everything and dual wield strike 8 times with 9999(epic). It also had a huge cast of characters. Including a Moogle. I mean seriously what other game allows you to play as a moogle?! It also featured a dynamic layout of different gameplay mechanics that made the game fresh. Such the huge tower defense like part where you send groups of your people through different routes to stop an invasion.

Since playing 6, it remains my all time favorite. Other FF titles that I love also though are in this order:
XII > Tactics > IV > VII > CC:VII > VIII > IX > XIII > I

X

X-2 was my first FF, but it doesn't spoil the twists in X, like how summoners ___ or that Tidus is a _____. I liked the darker, more linear approach in X, too.

A toss up between 12 and 13, just because those are the only two I've ever played. I can't say a game is my favorite if I have never played it. That and I like both of them a lot. Love the Gambit and License Board, as well as the Crystaria System.

We're all looking for a hero in a world of villains.
