Square Enix have updated the official Dissidia Duodecim website with more info on what's new to the battle system.

We've heard plenty about the Assist system and what it does, but not the exact mechanics of how it works. The clip on the official site basically informs us that players are going to have to be quite active in their moves in order to build up and maintain the Assist Gauge.

Striking opponents with attacks or simply hitting air will fill up the gauge, although the latter will take longer for obvious reasons. Mixing up attacks will help to fill it up faster, in other words, don't mash the same button. HP attacks also contribute to filling up the gauge. However, the gauge will deplete after a certain amount of time without attacking.

Once at least one bar is filled up, players can hit L and Circle which will execute an Assist Brave Attack in which your selected assist character will steal Bravery points from your opponent. Filling up the whole bar will allow you to perform an Assist HP Attack where the assist character will deal some physical damage to the opponent.

It sounds interesting, and it may helpo stopp the button mashers like me from button mashing.

We're all looking for a hero in a world of villains.
