At least I'm not the only one who thinks that. And while people complain about re-purchasing digital copies of games, we do it all the time. I mean, my PS2 can play my copy Final Fantasy VII, which I still own to this day, yet, I still paid ten bucks for the PSN digital copy for it on the PS3 and PSP. And I have no doubt I'll pay for the re-mastered versions of Ico/SotC collection, even though I can easily play it on my PS2, which still functions well since purchase.

If Sony believes a digitally exclusive handheld would work best, then it probably would.

I'm sure that would work great for you (and probably a many others), but not everyone owns a PSP. I borrowed a friend's PSP in order to play the games I'd bought, so yea, for people like me, not being able to play the games I already own on the NGP is a turn off.

The only way I'd re-purchase a game is if it was seriously discounted or re-mastered like the HD collections and the PSOne classics on PSN...I'm not paying full retail price again for the exact same version of a game that I already own. I'm not even keen on the classics that cost $14.99...lol. If re-purchasing at full price becomes the case for the NGP then I have every reason to complain, I'm not made of money you know

Plus not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to afford an NGP, assuming the price is the rumoured $249-299 price range. Like Asth, others will want to sell their current PSP's in order to save up for an NGP.

The NGP is first and foremost a portable gaming device. Keyword obviously being portable. If I have to carry around another PSP then that simply defeats the purpose of a portable's convenience in my opinion. I'm sure Sony is confident in the digital distribution market too like you said, I'm not arguing that. But if they fail to provide an agreeable solution for my UMD library of games...it's still a turn-off, a pretty considerable one

^ That's assuming they will charge full-price for the PSP digital copies by the time the NGP comes out. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised that these games see lower prices once the FGP. Of course, this is only my speculation.

Hahahaa funny, but it'd be pretty useful to still have the PSP with you who knows, you might sell it and then some great killing titles come out for the PSP? Targeted and Firing

Even though I do NOT currently own a PSP (Hopefully will be getting one in the near future... price drop ftw!), I really was hoping to be able to play games like KH:BBS, Dissidia and Dissidia Duodecim on the NGP, seeing as that's not going to happen, that turns me off a bit to the NGP.

I mean, yeah, they could give us digital copies of them, but that gives Sony reason to charge us twice for the same thing, which is NOT what I'd want. PSP games are decently cheap in NA, but I'm not sure how well it'd go over in Europe and Japan.

I'm with the "why not play the UMDs on your PSP" camp. The DS can't play pre-GBA games, the DSi can't even do that, and the 3DS is only going to offer that support via digital download where you have to repurchase the games.

Then again, that's probably the reason I've started buying more PSP and PSOne games via the PSN. The developers get more money, and PSN purchases will be compatible with the NGP.

^ I do take on board those comments like Astharis' though, about trading in to afford the NGP. If that's the only chance some people have of obtaining one, then they'd be stupid not to, but it would be nice if Sony would give them UMD support in return as well.
However, a UMD drive would just increase the bulkiness of the NGP significantly, increase the noise, decrease the battery life, etc., etc.. I still come down on the "against-UMD" side...
