Hello peoples!

Well, I've beaten my way to Cid Raines in Ch. 10, but I'm having MAJOR trouble with him. I've knocked his health down to basically an inch, and seconds later he KO's me in nothing flat. I checked a walkthrough to see what paradigms would work best, and it said "ALWAYS use a Sentinel."

Battle Teams I've been using:

1) Fang-Light- Hope (Tried this first, then moved on to a different setup.)

2) Snow-Light-Hope (Effective, but again, didn't work.)

3) Snow-Light-Fang

Paradigms:

Strategic Warfare (Sen-Com-Syn)
Delta Attack (Sen-Com-Rav)
Combat Clinic (Sen-Med-Med)
Solidarity (Sen-Com-Med)
Relentless Assault (Com-Rav-Rav)

I've brought him down to incredibly far, used the Shiva sisters, and switched my battle team/paradigms a thousand times, and I still get tbe same results: KOing my leader in nothing flat.

Anyone able to help me? Thanks!

The key to this fight is swiftness. You need to be relentless and quick. Go with Fang, Hope, and Lightning. Your Paradigm deck should look like this...

Relentless Assault(Rav, Rav, Com)
Aggression(Com, Com, Rav)
Protection(Med, Sen, Syn)
Evened Odds(Sab, Syn, Med)
Combat Clinic(Med, Med, Sen)
_____________(The sixth Paradigm you can set up to your liking as it is not necessary)

Start the battle with Light as you party leader. Like I said, the key to this battle is swiftness. If you're relentless, you can make short work of him very easily. Start with Protection. The first step is to apply Haste to the party(or at least Lightning). Then switch to Relentless Assault. Hammer away at him until his he's staggered, then switch to Aggression and let him have it. Evened Odds isn't a necessity, but if you want to debuff him, the option is there. Use Cobat Clinic when the going gets too tough. Once his stagger runs out, just repeat the process. That should take care of him quite easily. Even without Haste(in case you don't have it with Hope yet). Good luck!!!

Hmm I don't remember exactly how I beat him, but I'm assuming you're having trouble with his second form. The most important thing I remembered for the fight was to keep your party's buffs up and do your best to keep Raines de-buffed. When he's about to perform a combo attack that is when I switched to a paradigm with Sentinel, Medic, and Commando (or Medic)...I think I was using Fang, Vanille, and Lightning respectively.

There'll be a period when Raines will re-buff himself I think, that's when you take the opportunity to re-buff and heal your party and continue to de-buff Raines. At that point I think I had Saboteur, Synergist, and Medic and Synergist, Medic, Medic and would switch in-between the two paradigms depending on my party's HP.

All the while do your best to bring up his chain, once he's staggered juggle him immediately and bring on the hurt Wink

nay don't use battle clinic, that will get you killed
basically what I did was a continuous attack mode followed by all heal
so use Light, Vanille, Hope / Sazh (depending on what Syn you need, suggest Sazh for haste)
then just have Light either on Com or Rav with Vanille on Rav or Med and Hope / Sazh on Rav, Med, and briefly Syn and when everyone is almost dead shift LIght to Med
so basically a "bam bam boom"

I liked it up until I started losing chain bonuses everytime I popped into it. Then I switched to Solidarity AKA Sen-Med-Com.
